"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I don't understand when fans think a character has been ruined. I may not like something, but it happened and because I'm only viewing the story, I have to deal with it. I knew when Dean was in the room with Amy, that he was going to kill her. I kept telling him that Sammy would never forgive him. He doesn't listen to me because he already knows that. My boys need a hug.

eta: I'm also a little giddy this morning in the after glow of Sam's first kiss. He asked Dean for advice, which had to be so difficult for him to make himself that vulnerable. Happy young Sam leaves me smiling. Colin is so adorable.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think it could have been as simple as his stuff ended up on the cutting room floor for time, but the bits that survived he was behaving strangely (to me).

I sort of hope it is that because Bobby felt off in a few moments with no apparent reason why.

That said, he and Dean watching the telenovela was awesome and funny.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Points:

  • Colin was awesome. I love him like pie.
  • Young Amy was wonderful. I want to see her in lots of other things.
  • I agree with (our) Amy about how I feel about Dean's actions. I expected him to have killed the son first, quickly, as painlessly as possible, and with sincere regret before he killed Amy.
  • I agree with Stephanie, I think, on I'm more upset with him going behind Sam's back than on either killing Amy or leaving the kid alive, alone, and hungry.
  • I absolutely loved the stalking the stalker in the woods scene, it was so pretty. Jensen did good there, Kim woulda been proud.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Did Dean comment on Amy's last name, or was it only Sam? I forget.

Because books.

I think it was just Sam, but I'd need to rewatch.

I'm trying to categorise them geekily. So far, Dean is Vonnegut and Tolkien and comics--perhaps the more literary of the two. Sam is Doctor Who and what else?

Art Crawl!!!

Who played the young Amy? I agree that she was excellent.

Because books.

Dean is also horror and most popular movies, and more TV than Sam.

Sam is more academic. I can't think of a lot of culturally geeky stuff about him, actually. Although he would have known Mount Doom from the books, and Dean from the movies, I think.

I'm with you on both, Cass. I loved young Amy, too, Beverly et al. Colin is fabulous as young Sam. I don't really get practically why Dean didn't kill the kid if he killed the mother. The kid will have to kill to survive now as he is a bit young to get a job as a mortuary assistant. Better to either kill them both or leave them both alive. Dean's off his game!

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

It occurred to me that from the kid's perspective, Dean has now become the YED: the monster who appeared out of nowhere to kill his mother and threaten him. And Dean, who had made saving other peoples' families his job description for pretty much his entire life, has acted in a way that looks as though he's becoming the very thing he hated the most. Justified or not.
