Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just read this footnote on a fic:

the shtriga story is canon, at least according to The Supernatural Book Of Monsters, Spirits, Demons And Ghouls; luckily John came back before it could kill them, and then 17 years later they came back and ganked it.

Uh, do you watch the show? I know I don't make the rules, but, WATCH THE SHOW.

[twitchy doublepost redacted]

Since I'm tripling it up anyway--I have to decide which direction to go in for the D/C BB. It's a minibang, so I'm only required to do one pic, but I'm pretty sure there will be more than that.

Because books.

That's just dumb. There's a whole episode about just that!

Art Crawl!!!

Why do people write fic based on shows they've never watched?

I do remember seeing someone say (anonymously) that they wrote Victor into a story without knowing he was black. This is not a headspace I can even vaguely understand.

Because books.

I have ducks to paint today. Two blue -- Sam and Dean -- and one yellow, which I think might be Bobby instead of Cas. I have something I can use for a trucker cap!

AHAHAHA. WHAT?

I mean, umm.

Damn.

Hey, peeps. I haven't been reading SPN for a while, as most of the good plotty gen writers buggered off to other fandoms and I was accidentally devoured by Who, Sherlock, and Cabin Pressure (no, seriously, I haven't even been checking the Dark Angel stuff out at the Pit of Voles because of it).

Other than Anne's story, which is bookmarked on my to-do list, what's some good SPN gen out there? Any recs from the last year? (I'm not in a D/C mood and don't do the Wincest--not for moral reasons, as anyone who has read my AtS stuff knows, or anyone who, umm, gets the Holmescest links I send them on a regular basis ALSO knows, cough--but because I can't see it as in character if there's no demonic possession involved.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I have seen someone do a photomanip for SGA in which they got the race of a character wrong.

It's good to see West is just as refined and elegant as his dad.

Those eyes!

Unrelatedly I wish either people would stop writing mean-spirited Cas/Meg or Dean/Anna "fixit" fics, or I would stop clicking on them. Either would work.
