Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Cherry pie:
(Which I initially typed as "cheery". Oops.)
This the story I was talking about. Gen, Bobby POV, character death, and a really poignant, satisfying ending. Except for, you know, the death. The Ghosts You Know.
It's short, but man, it hit me hard.
Okay! I wasn't following how "young mary" got to "Amy," but I like that you're thinking of me? ::gooses Theresa::
Hee. Amy Gumenick plays Young Mary. The name plus skimming caused my confusion. That's my story anyway.
Oh, right! I'm not on my game today.
Man, that story is tight. Though I wish the author had called out how come Sam
could still haunt even though his remains had been salted and burnt. A possession, maybe?
Winchesters are different? I didn't even think of that because of the CRYING TOO HARD.
I thought, I'll take a break from writing, read a little fic ... I should have gone with porn, as per usual.
Was watching Wheel of Fortune, which is not usual for me, and the puzzle was April Showers. Although the second word was one letter short, I yelled out "April Spoilers!" My life may revolve around too much TV.
And that ties into thread because....we were discussing wardrobe spoilers. :nods:
THIS IS NOT GEN.
Seriously. I got to the point where they
start taking off their clothes
and I have to leave. Just because they don't have sex doesn't mean...I mean, can we have a rating for "so much more fucked up than on the show, but maybe no genitalia"? Because that behaviour creeps me out on the same continuum as brother sex.
I read that, too. I thought it was overwrought, mostly. And yeah, I did not get the what you said.
I used to read a lot of K Hanna Korossy, when I first started consuming fic in bulk. For a while I thought it was normal for them to share beds, that it was something I was going to have to deal with if I wanted any sort of hurt/comfort there'd be lots of sleepy cuddles.
They don't
actually
touch that much on the show. Just about any one of my family members does more sibling touching than that. So it's not an extension of behaviour on the show, it's wish fulfillment. But I noticed that some people don't cop to it. For some reason, that bothers me.
You want huggy touchy brothers? Write away! But don't pretend it's in line with canon--I remember one fic where Sam was defensive saying "We totally touch every time one of us dies or comes back from the dead." And, seriously, death or injury does have to be on the table.
I'm not saying they're not soulmates (I'm totally on board *that* train). I'm just saying they're not expressing their beyond-the-grave devotion in a day to day tactile manner.
I think a lot of people took the idea of Dean crawling into Sam's crib after Mary died as law. But there aren't a lot of little boys who are going to continue that behavior past a certain age, and in the Christmas episode we see what I think of as typical boy behavior -- grudging fondness, a lot of teasing, but no real hugging or cuddling.
I can buy that they had to share a double bed in a motel room once in a while, but I highly doubt they were snuggling when Dean was past the age of eight or so, when a four-year-old Sam might have demanded it, or weaseled it out of him, or simply cuddled close in his sleep (which four-year-olds do, complete with elbows in the ear and knees to the stomach).
