Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, I really hate the general tone and style of the TWoP recaps for SPN. The only time I've read them are when Cindy was guest recapping.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't get the line between snark and venom that TWOP dances around. I'm not going to page through 20 screens of text on something I don't like--so if you're going to shit on it, be brief and funny. Instead of verbose and thinking you're really clever.

It's much more appealing when the reviewer has a fondness for what they're poking at. Doesn't mean the show has to be good, for crying out loud. I remember the good days of Smallville recaps, fer crying out loud.

Because books.

I've never really gotten the appeal of TWoP. Maybe I was reading recaps of the wrong shows, but I never found anyone really funny. More ... long-winded and sort of boring. And I disliked what I saw so much, I haven't even read Cindy's. (I'm sorry, Cindy!)

The forums just terrify me. I like it here.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Some of the recappers do a very good job of writing exactly what happens in the episode and only snark in asides, but this recapper snarked and only recapped in assides!

eta, because as a theatre major I damn well better know how to spell "asides"! I left the second one, because it seemed appropriate.

Because books.

Now you made me curious, of course.

From the recap of the recent ep:

Of course, all of this freaks Dean right the hell out, because as you'll recall, they were warned that if Sam recovered any memory at all of the months his soulless body wreaked havoc upon the face of the earth while his soul chilled out downstairs in The Cage with Lucifer and Michael, it could destroy the wall Capital-D Death erected between Sam's soul and his brain (or whatever), thereby rendering Sam a drooling, twitching imbecile for all eternity.

That's not even true, is it? I thought the wall was only up to protect Sam from memories of what happened to him in the cage. Dean and Bobby certainly seemed surprised that he didn't remember the soulless year.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Their insistence on using cutesy, insulting nicknames for the characters annoys me. If I haven't seen the episode and don't know the context I don't know who they're referring to. If I'm truly trying to read a recap to figure out what happened on a show I missed, I don't want to have to work that hard -- I shouldn't need a translator. (I figured out from the context that "My Sweet Baboo" refers to Castiel; why, I don't know. There's no explanation. Seriously, they need some sort of glossary if they're going to do this sort of thing.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Some of the smaller shows had decent discussions--but I found for the ones where they ran recaps and had an entire forum of multiple threads per show they were havens for nutjobs.

And, seriously, Amy if you point shit out to the recappers/mods that they don't like, they wield a might banhammer. Jengod got herself banned, if memory serves.

Just not my thing. They now work too hard to be special.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I don't get the line between snark and venom that TWOP dances around.

I feel like they vaulted over that line a while back, at least as far as SPN is concerned.

You know whose recaps I would love to read? Mark of 'Mark Reads.' I've enjoyed reading his Hunger Games and Doctor Who recaps immensely. When he squees, it's infectious, and when there is something that doesn't work for him, he explains why it doesn't work for him (or bothers him, or annoys him) rather than just mocking it. He really gets that it's possible to love a show or a book and balance squee and critique.

In the interest of full disclosure, he utterly eviscerated Twilight, and it was glorious.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

You know whose recaps I would love to read? Mark of 'Mark Reads.'

He will be watching at least the first season of Supernatural, but he's got a few other shows in his queue before. And you know what's next? AVATAR.

EEEEE!!! That is great news on both fronts.
