And Sam is a better hunter, and stronger, and more ruthless, and all those things
Though it looked to me like it was going to end with Dean killing Sam, if Bobby had not interrupted. Do I misremember?

How nice was it to see Kristin's Save One Show and not have horse in the race? THIS nice.
I have a couple! Wah.
::hugs P-C::
There are a couple that I am sad, but honestly, I've lost track of watching them. The only one left for me was T:SSC and the show took care of me being invested in that last week with a bullet to the brain. This is the first time though that my current One True Show hasn't been a likely cut. Or an already announced cut. eta: Not literally the first, but you know, seems like it.
word, Austin. i mean, i'll be sad if Chuck or Life go. i have about a million Privilegeds saved up on the dvr that will probably just get deleted. watched one ep of Kings and ahemmed the next two, but have yet to watch them. Reaper is suffering the same fate as Privileged.
T:tSCC really made me not care one way or another if they get canned. i'll just hang on to my shiny season one dvds.

Oh, yeah, he was going to kill Sam. He got the upper hand in that particular fight. But overall, my impression is that Sam without Dean, in Mystery Spot or after Dean died at the end of Season 3, was doing some pretty hardcore efficient ruthless Batman shit, with added demon-fu. And I think he's a lot more like John than Dean is, in that way - a lot more goal-oriented, and driven, and convinced of his own righteousness, and prepared to sacrifice others.
Just watched Death Takes a Holiday, and am filled with flailing. The child actor was terrific, bless him. And, oh, jings, Sam is killing me. Killing me! Dean would not have told that lie. Ngah. Sam is lying ALL THE TIME, damn it! Stop lying, Sammy! STOP! It is not big or clever!
Alastair/Dean is quite upsetting. Back off, Alastair! Oh, Dean, Dean, you are the perfect victim, aren't you? Dear me.
I am very sad about Pamela. I thought she was awesome. Tessa is also awesome.

I really do like Sammy a lot. And I feel very bad for him, because he's in an untenable position, and he is sincerely trying to make the best of it, but he needs to stop lying to Dean and he also needs to stop believing Ruby!!!!
Castiel cracked me up, with his "Well, yes, I had to disguise my voice on the phone to make you do the work of God, because you are so bloody minded that you do the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I tell you, even though I AM AN ANGEL OF THE LORD. What the hell is UP with you, crazy perverse human person???"
::loves Castiel::
Right, well, just one more ep to go and then I'm out of eps.

Wasn't Jared's face perfect when he said that? These boys have done such good work.
Hmm. And yet I suspect that Dean's "weakness"--that he's not ruthless, in particular--is what's going to save them both. It would be a nice switcheroo from their positions at the beginning of the show, where Dean was the ruthless hunter, convinced of his superiority compared to mundanes, and Sam was always concerned about mainstream morality.
As I'm about a third of my way through this edition of S1: The Rewatchening (last night was Skin), I'd say it's not that much of a switcheroo. The ruthlessness and superiority were effectively limited to evil SOBs and supposed authority figures, and while the former has toned down somewhat, the latter is still in play.
It's really interesting, to me at least, to see how much of where they are now was there in the earlier episodes.

I was really struck by that, when rewatching earlier seasons. (Also, that they both looked SO YOUNG OMG!!!)
Anyway, just watched On the Head of a Pin. Kind of sorry I've been so spoiled, really, but it was still great. And I feel a lot less 'Ack!' about the race issues, actually, because I thought Uriel was awesome. I just wished he didn't keep calling Dean "Boy", because it made me flinch. Still.
Man, watching Alastair and Dean, I was totally put in mind of Rorschach in prison, and that whole "I'm not stuck in here with you, you're stuck in here with me!" thing. Because, man, that so wasn't Dean torturing Alastair. That was 100% Alastair torturing Dean, and getting off on it.
Oh, boys. Boys boys boys.
I'm quite well disposed to Anna, and enjoyed her interactions with Castiel. But I wish that everyone else would stop calling Castiel Cas. As a Dean nickname, it works for me - Dean refusing to be respectful towards angels, and/or being kind of friendly with Castiel. But coming from Anna, who had been his superior, I felt it was more iffy. Hmm.
...there just isn't any possible happy ending for the Winchesters, is there? They're just totally fucked.
Yeah, the nickname thing definitely felt like kind-of-wrongheaded fanservice to me coming from Anna, when it's perfectly natural coming from Dean (and by association from Sam).
