Wait, but Anna's plan wasn't in Dark Side. That was Song Remains the Same, I think.
I would venture that since Roy and Walt were obviously planning to kill them execution-style, they just planned to get out quick and avoid the dirty work.
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

I know. I'm just saying if they planned to stop them coming back, they didn't have the tools at their disposal. Anna was going nuclear.
But even as I think about it, why would Roy and Walt salt and burn the bodies? A hunter's funeral seems to be something done out of respect for the person passing.
Oh, gotcha.
Bobby always salts and burns victims, too, but that's Bobby. At least he did in Magnificent Seven and the zombie one.
I don't mean a funeral pyre, just a torching of bones like when on a ghost hunt, preventing the spirit from coming back and haunting your ass.
Also, Roy and Walt weren't originally planning to kill Dean, were they? IIRC, they only shot him because he recognized them despite the ski masks.
SamandDean are a pair not to be broken apart. So there needs to be another in the mix. SamandDean, Castiel, and ???
Sir, perhaps?

Well, the boys' bodies were still pretty fresh. It's gonna take some work to get down to the bones to torch them at that stage of the game.
Sir, perhaps?
Ooooh, Sir. Oh yes.
Anne, I think you're right. Hmmm. Still, they were pretty dumb. You don't kill Dean's brother and leave him walking around to find you.
I don't think salting and burning would have helped. Anna's plan was much more drastic than that.
I think even Anna's attempt was doomed to failure. The only feasible obstacle I can think of to prevent Lucifer from raising Sam from the dead as needed would be if Sam's soul were safely beyond his reach in Heaven. With Michael working toward the big showdown too, that option evaporated.
Off topic: totally cute I don't know what.
it's asking me to log in, ita.
As for Walt and Roy, I doubt they knew about such things like Lucifer/God/whomever bringing the boys back until they said Yes. They wouldn't know about or being able to implement scattering of atoms. I doubt they even knew about the whole "vessel for Lucifer" thing. Just that Sam had started the Apocalypse, and he had to pay. So, as joe schmoe huntersn who know about ghosts, I was just thinking they'd want to prevent that with the men they just murdered. Everything else I think is way beyond Roy and Walt's ken.
