That was watch from the hall from me more than anything else because I thought it was a grave tonal misstep (although I hated most of that ep). Molesting unattractive older woman just made me embarrassed for the people who thought that was funny.
I don't think soulless Sam would do her unless she could prove she was a tiger in the sack. I don't think it was scruples that was keeping his pants on before--it was fear of old lady cooties.
I don't think it was scruples that was keeping his pants on before--it was fear of old lady cooties.
Exactly. I think without scruples, Sam is going to be even choosier about looks over personality or charm, really.
I'm still dealing with Sam not needing to sleep.
I can get, sort of, how if you don't have a soul, you don't have any emotional conflicts, the kind your dreams work out for you.
But the body still needs rest. I would think he would sleep, just not dream. I keep wondering where they're going with that.
(Oh, and by unattractive I meant textually we were to understand this was obviously worse than, you know, fucking a werewolf or some shit)
Castiel teaser spot. Not spoilery at all, unless you mean spoilery in your pants if you love Cas. Aired during tonight's Vampire Diaries.
I just see people invoking Changing Channels, and I'm like "No! Don't jinx it!"
I see almost universal love for this episode throughout the fandom, and at those times I realize once again that I don't share most everyone else's sense of humor. In particular I didn't find the sitcom or game show segments funny at all. But then I am also impatient with the Ghostbuster episodes too - I don't think I've watched any of them in reruns, because I didn't enjoy them enough the first time through.
Ben Edlund doesn't always thrill me but I've always been willing to give him a chance ever since "I'm made of felt... and my nothe cometh off."
Have we had any episodes by Carver this season? Or did we lose him to another show?
I didn't love Changing Channels.
Carver's gone over to Being Human.
I adored Changing Channels. LoveLOVElove. I laughed so hard, and felt all their pain and danced pantsless in the meta of the whole thing. But then again, he did Nightshifter and The End and I'd rather this not be a Malleus Maleficarum.
I didn't love Changing Channels
A short while ago Polter-Cow linked this article with excerpts from the Season 5 Companion, where they talk specifically about Changing Channels. Quotes like "We were like, ‘How much crazier can this episode get?' but it always found a way to get one notch crazier. I think the Japanese game show just came out of a desire to watch the guys get hit in the balls. Purely juvenile." and the director and editor talking about how they were laughing so hard they were crying while working on the episode just made me think that it was like I was reading something that had been translated from another language. But then I never found the Three Stooges amusing either.
Not a big fan of the Three Stooges. HUGE fan of hitting guys in the nuts. Worked for me, especially with the counterpoint of the emotional questions they were being asked in a foreign language to make it even high stakes and sad, and the introduction of the derisive term "pretty boy angel".
