I'm going to say it. Without some preordained vesseltude, what can Dean honestly bring to an angelic civil war?

I can see taking him to task for thinking his problems are bigger and Cas should drop everything.

But for not suiting up for a war in heaven?

He's a guy. Not a superpower on him. Beyond that steely gaze. But that only works on Cas, I think.

Yeah, Dean's hyperfocused on Sam. And Dean and Sam gave up and sacrificed a lot at Heaven's behest, and were flung every which way by Heaven's denizens. And Dean was gunning for God in Swan Song. So no, I don't think Dean gives a rats ass about Heaven, when he's trying to undo the damage that Heaven's previous mess and damage caused to his brother.

That said, that's separate from him giving a rat's ass about what Cas is dealing with, on a personal level. I would like for him to understand where Cas is coming from*, like he finally got where Bobby was coming from in Weekend. But that's asking for a lot of objectivity. But the good stuff is where everyone's being a jackass to their friends and family and there's friction and strife amongst those we don't want it in, because we love them. And so our beloved boys are insensitive jerks to each other. But I'm expecting payoff and resolution. Not as in "I demand it", but feel that will be coming.

Dean has who? Lisa, Ben, Bobby, Sam, and Cas. Lisa just dumped him, so no Ben. Bobby gave him the "it's not all about you, idjit" speech. Sam isn't the right Sam, he has no soul. Cas is distant and more unavailable than he's used to.

He's at a total loss. Sam is rightfully his main obsession right now, but he's got nowhere to go, and he's faced everyday with a golem of the person he loves most in the world.

ION, I was catching up on Hawaii 5-0, and "Carmen" guest starred as Steve's sometime love interest. God knows I loved Carmen, but I'm really happy that Lisa is being played by the current actress. If we ever see her again.

All the Hours Wound Down was good. I was actually living in fear today that it would be horribly fucked up, since the last chapter had so much floofy schmoop in it, and it's sansday. I'll have to reread it with a new perspective. But I did like it a lot.

I stayed up until the wee hours of the night reading Kids in the Riot. So very good. I was a little surprised/disappointed that the D/C went from so tenuously tentative to curtain-fic so quickly, and alternately amused/peeved that Dean was such a piss-poor spy. But mostly amused.
