Cas was being made a freak and feeding Dean soup

Let's be clear--Cas was feeding Dean with his mouth and Sam thought it was charming and something he could watch. That was kinda weird all round.

I can't say I noticed punctuation missing in the scan, because it was small. If someone picks up the book they'll have to say for sure.

Dean calling John John to Bobby doesn't ping me at all. And the way I parsed the letter was that the first two paras weren't targeted at Sam, although that's not precise.

Aren't they that, though? Sure, it's a different flavour, but they need each other so much right now, and it's completely and utterly impossible for them to have what they want, because they're just not equipped.

They aren't, for me. I mean they are totally crippled and dependent on each other but I don't think either of them necessarily wants to be with the other right now. I like them broken but damn it, they are doing it together.

Right now it feels more like their relationship with John early on where there's clearly a dysfunctional relationship but then they drive off in separate cars. Even if Sam and Dean are both in the Impala.

My heart wants what it wants. And it wants broken Winchesters who might die but they are going to damn well go out side by side.

I think Sam totally wants to be with Dean. He's insisted. He's asked Dean to come with him. He's supplementing his moral compass with an intellectual fix. Dean doesn't want to be with this Sam, but he wants Sam back. And he'll fight hard to get it.

WTF what is wrong with feeding the soup to him with a freaking SPOON??!!>!?!!?!! Charming fic except for the whole WHAT THE F***?!!!! Spoons, IV's, these basic things need to be tried before the "genius" idea of mouth to mouth bird feeding. And Sammy sighing over the sight of it.

He did try a spoon. Dean spit it out. They suggested IVs, but they didn't know how to use them themselves and didn't think they could keep Cas in a hospital room 24/7 with him like they'd need to.

Okay, that's just gross. I mean, I'm happy I didn't have to do that for my kids, for heaven's sake.

It was kinda okay from Cas' PoV because he didn't have a frame of reference, but Sam did think it was mother-bird cute.

I have to agree with ita on this one. If all Sam wanted was a Dean-shaped weapon to add to his arsenal, wouldn't he have shown up at Lisa's doorstep a year ago? If we accept the rather clumsy explanation the writers provided he stayed away because he wanted Dean to have the opportunity at a normal life, and while that wish began before he jumped into hell it continued upon his return. That was something he wanted because he thought it was something good that Dean deserved (leaving aside the glaring neon wrongness of letting Dean believe his brother was in hell...which in fact he may still be, come to think of it). Anyway, this seems to imply that he is capable of wanting something good for someone else. So either he's not completely cold or the writers are not completely consistent.
