cheerios: I find it kinda hysterical, in a Cas-exploding way, that in the Space promo, we see Dean getting turned by the most unsexy vampire ever.

Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
the one where Dean is the teacher is Cas is the 18 y/o student about to graduate (wip warning) has potential
Dean is not older than Cas! I have undue issues with the age flipping. Ideally, their age difference should be the JA-Misha difference. It's just a thing.
Not a big issue for me. In AU, I can see Dean's worldliness and Cas' newness to humanity translating to a younger Cas.

Misha's a couple years older than JA, yes? But not many?
Hah! Cas as a Canadian Mountie is perfect! In theory. Haven't read it yet.

Can you think of any fics that actually do that? I have to admit, I don't like a lot of the emo/woobie!Cas characterisation. Okay, 5x03 happened. But most of the time he doesn't care that he doesn't fit in. He has a disdain for the out-of-water environment, and a fair confidence in himself in other arenas.

4 year age difference. I IMDBed to check, but apparently I know shit like that. I'm not a creeper, honest. So, technically you have to fudge it for HS AUs, and I'm okay with that for the device. But for college AUs, I much prefer a grad school/TA Cas.
Misha is crop of '74. How old is JA now?
Jensen was born in 1978.
And I have way less issue with age discrepancies than I do with wilting-flower characterizations of Cas. If Cas is independent of and resistant (initially) to Dean, is his own person, and can dish out as good as he gets, yet is 10 or 15 years younger than he should be? I'll take it. There's too much age-appropriate Cas where his awkwardness is translated to weak.
But making him young as an instrument of characterisation is off to me. Even when he was a new human, he wasn't young. He was secure, and just got put out when pushed by Dean into genuinely embarrassing situations. He's not generally unsure. More often than not, he's BAMFy, or angsty. But not angstier than Dean, so it shouldn't be a reason to make him young.
eta: It's just that Cas is so much older than Dean in every scene. My brain doesn't see any reason for that flip, ever.
