Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Sorry about that. I'd linked to a gorgeous collection of pencil drawings for The Time Traveler's Brother. I only realized after it had posted that the last one is definitely cesty.

Warnings given, here's the link.

Because books.

I only see one drawing in that post, Bev, but then I just woke up so I could have residual stupid going on.

I didn't mind the flying thing so much. This is S6 Dean, who does what he has to do and shuts up about it, so it doesn't surprise me -- especially since he was flying for Bobby, who clearly needed them.

I also don't mind not seeing it -- we did that already, in Phantom Traveler, and if nothing plotwise was happening on the plane, there's really not much interesting about watching Dean twitch and white-knuckle.

It was weird, though -- I got a sudden flash of Willow and Giles in S7 there, when we saw Sam and Dean in the rolling hills of Scotland.

Art Crawl!!!

Hee.

I'm imagining the new SPN/Torchwood/Harry Potter xovers being written right now with the Winchester boys abroad.

Perhaps a Winchester Boys Grand Tour.

And I love the Bobby and Rufus show too.

The Bobby and Rufus show was AWESOME.

This is so very much true! I loved the sheriff too and adore the relationship she and Bobby have now, and yes, a little romance in the future would be great. The actress is great and her sheriff is utterly charming.

I was worried about a Bobby-centric show because the writers haven't always done well by him in the past, but they knocked it out of the park with this episode. Bobby and Rufus are a great grumpy pair. The levity they brought was welcome.

How great is it that Bobby has an earth mover and Rufus is jealous?

The director wasn't half-bad either.

ETA: Sam's faceplant when Dean was calling Bobby was great! Cleverly done. Otherwise, Sam was way under-utilized.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think calling Sam's behaviour a continuity error would be in line with calling him paying for sex a continuity error because he said he didn't in Lazarus Rising. That's not what continuity error means. It's a character note.

I read somewhere that Misha and Jared were used very little to none in this ep to make things easier for Jensen.

Because of all the shit they would have given him?

Ayup. But I haven't seen any direct quotes, so apply grains of salt as needed.

It may be that Sam was thinking pragmatically; Crowley has helped them in the past (to suit his own purposes, of course), and might again at some point in the future. Better to have someone they might have use for in charge downstairs than a new CEO they know nothing about who's likely to be 100% antagonistic. After all, with Bobby's soul returned to him they gain nothing directly by destroying Crowley.

Seems a bit tenuous as a gain. Now that they are no longer allied against Lucifer, and he no longer holds a lien on Bobby's soul, he could become 100% antagonistic at any time. So maybe something to gain and maybe something not. Heck of a trade off against an opportunity to kill a powerful demon now. Unless somewhere in hell Sam learned that having your word be garbage is not a good idea?

Because books.

I think the biggest issue is that Crowley is a popular character who has excellent chemistry with the boys (including Bobby), i.e. they're going to find reasons to keep him around rather than following the 'verse logic strictly.
