ita - OK you are right , character note, not continuity.

It may be that Sam was thinking pragmatically; Crowley has helped them in the past (to suit his own purposes, of course), and might again at some point in the future. Better to have someone they might have use for in charge downstairs than a new CEO they know nothing about who's likely to be 100% antagonistic. After all, with Bobby's soul returned to him they gain nothing directly by destroying Crowley.

Seems a bit tenuous as a gain. Now that they are no longer allied against Lucifer, and he no longer holds a lien on Bobby's soul, he could become 100% antagonistic at any time. So maybe something to gain and maybe something not. Heck of a trade off against an opportunity to kill a powerful demon now. Unless somewhere in hell Sam learned that having your word be garbage is not a good idea?

Because books.

I think the biggest issue is that Crowley is a popular character who has excellent chemistry with the boys (including Bobby), i.e. they're going to find reasons to keep him around rather than following the 'verse logic strictly.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

This song came up on my playlist, I've listened to it dozens of times before over the past year or so. Suddenly it was a Sam song. M. Ward's "Right in the Head"

I hope my little brother puts a call in today
I hope he don't forget where he came from
I hope he never has to deal with wronging someone

'Cause I lived with many ghosts when I was younger
And I will live with many ghosts until I go

I hope he's right in the head
Even if he has to wrong someone

And I hope his guardian angel puts a gun in his hand
If ever they get ambushed or pursued
I hope she sticks around when he does dirty in this dirty, dirty duel he has brewed
And though the names will get changed to protect the innocent
He said, "I hope the names will get changed to protect me."

I agree. I think the show runners would be foolish not to recognize the value of actors who interact and play well with the fans. I'm quite sure Castiel and Crowley are still around not just because they're great characters but also because the actors bring so much more to the table than just the role.

Because books.

They've said that's one of the reasons Castiel's role got expanded, too.

I'm still so tickled we got to see Sheriff Mills again, I'm just gleeful.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Skipping to gripe about the DVR not catching this week's ep. Not a fun thing to discover when I'm settling in to watch.

Ah, well... off to find alternate sources.

(edited because grip and gripe are not the same thing)

It would be funny if Cas griped Dean tight, though.

DVR fail = well, FAIL.

Anne, you were totally Kripke'd, babe.

P.S. I know what I want for Hanukkah: more Bobby and Rufus.

I was howling with laughter during the phone scene.

The other thing that got me howling with laughter was the idea of a Gavin MacLeod who died when his ship sank.

BOBBY! I would totally watch the Bobby Singer show. It doesn't even have to be the Bobby & Rufus show; just Bobby, being awesome. Yes, I am biased.
