Continuity error: One of Ruby's big things was that she remembered who she was when human. She may have been lying about herself being the exception (as about almost everything) but there was never any indication she was lying about demons forgetting who they were. So all of a sudden Crowley remembers who he was in the past, but even his minions know his birth name to give away? And minion has discoverable name as well?

Second point, either continuity error, or reveal hidden in plain site: Sam suddenly insisting on keeping a deal with a demon. "He's a dick but we made a deal" is not a Winchester tradition. Sam & Dean are lying liars who lie to everybody including each other. They break promises to demons and supernatural beings all the time - and to each other. Sam tried to keep Dean from going to hell. Dean tried to bring Sam back. They don't even have to think about breaking promises to Demons. Heck Dean broke promises to Angels.

So continuity error? Or a clue about what is wrong with Sam? When Crowley says something along the lines of "I can take care of myself, Moose?" is he really saying, "Don't give away that you work for me now, asshole"?

I like that as a plot bunny, but doubt that the show is going there. Still....

That was my first reaction too, when I realized we were supposed to be looking at them standing in Scotland.

I don't remember Ruby ever saying demons didn't remember their names. She implied she was different for remembering feeling human ("I remember what its like"), but that's entirely different. Not only was she likely lying, but Crowley clearly didn't have any leftover feelings.

I don't think that Sam being willing to keep his word counts as an error either. He's currently the more likely of the brothers to do something unpalatable like that, but last season when the stakes were higher he was willing to do shit like that too. It's minor, as far as I'm concerned. Just in line with him being detached and cold.

Hmm. I really thought the idea was the demons did not remember their human identities. OK problem with only watching episodes once.

But I stick to the "keeping promises". Sam is totally an "end justifies the means guy". But keeping promises after the bad guy has delivered his end? That is not doing something unpalatable for a good reason. For someone whose word is worthless anyway, that is doing something unpalatable for no reason.

I only see one drawing in that post, Bev, but then I just woke up so I could have residual stupid going on.

I didn't mind the flying thing so much. This is S6 Dean, who does what he has to do and shuts up about it, so it doesn't surprise me -- especially since he was flying for Bobby, who clearly needed them.

I also don't mind not seeing it -- we did that already, in Phantom Traveler, and if nothing plotwise was happening on the plane, there's really not much interesting about watching Dean twitch and white-knuckle.

It was weird, though -- I got a sudden flash of Willow and Giles in S7 there, when we saw Sam and Dean in the rolling hills of Scotland.

I'm imagining the new SPN/Torchwood/Harry Potter xovers being written right now with the Winchester boys abroad.

This is so very much true! I loved the sheriff too and adore the relationship she and Bobby have now, and yes, a little romance in the future would be great. The actress is great and her sheriff is utterly charming.

I was worried about a Bobby-centric show because the writers haven't always done well by him in the past, but they knocked it out of the park with this episode. Bobby and Rufus are a great grumpy pair. The levity they brought was welcome.

How great is it that Bobby has an earth mover and Rufus is jealous?

The director wasn't half-bad either.

ETA: Sam's faceplant when Dean was calling Bobby was great! Cleverly done. Otherwise, Sam was way under-utilized.
