Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
If Misha tweeted it, it's suspect.
I'm in a short mood, and I should know better than to let any portion of fandom affect how I feel about a character, but I really am over the Gabriel love. IT WAS FOUR EPISODES, PEOPLE. Sure, I'd love a good excuse to bring him back, but we've lost Ellen, John, Victor, and other good characters too. Don't try and paint Gabriel out as having more inherent value than anyone else onscreen. He totally doesn't.
I'm not enamoured of Gabriel, but I can understand his potential in fic (barring the "Sam needs to fuck an angel, too") as a wild card with awesome powers of deux ex machina and tenuous morality. But that Sam pairing does weary me.
Contrapasso was good, if a bit tiring (but that might have been the circumstances of me being cold and tired). I don't know if it all hangs together, and I don't recommend reading it on a cold rainy day/night (which I did, and I'm refusing to turn the heat on just yet and the cats are fighting over my body heat) because it just accentuates the later misery of the fic. I don't know that it all hangs together, logically or plot-wise, and doesn't end neatly with a bow. I definitely see potential for a sequel that deals with all the issues not addressed or concluded. It's almost like it's own season 6 opener (what with how it handles Sam's reappearance). Or maybe like an epic 6x02 and 6x03 two-parter.
This was people bitching about him coming back to the show. How it would be tarnished if he didn't. WhatEV. Everyone has favourites. But you could write off Castiel and I'd probably keep watching. Show is about the boys. Just don't trash the character on the way out.
I got into an argument with someone else about whether Lisa was weak or strong in her decision with Dean. I guess I have known a fair amount of women who've raised kids with men not-really-around but not-really-gone, and it all seemed to work out just fine. It doesn't have to mean you're a weak person. But the other party did kinda admit they'd been damaged by some sort of similar parenting experience.
We all bring our baggage.
I liked Contrapasso. The Perpetual Motion fic was not good. Poor characterisation and too much melodrama.

Is that cherie_morte's fic? I had that bookmarked for whenever I had the time to get to it, because I've enjoyed some of her stories in the past. (But it's marked as wincest and I thought you didn't read that.)

Well . . . that's . . . weird. Yeah, I got nothing on that bit of craxy.
Is that cherie_morte's fic?
No. It's a D/C BB fic by elsewhere_kels. Your squick, not mine. Though, AU, so maybe not a squick for you. Also, poorly characterised, so less possibility of angel flashbacks.
It's not surprising that titles are getting reused. God knows plot devices have been repeated over and over.
Random Acts is congratulating Misha on his son, with the name Misha used. I have no idea if they're in the know or as gullible as the rest of us.
Misha and his child are adorable.
Why can't people demand that Missouri come back? That's what I want. I mean, now that Jo and Ellen and Pamela are dead anyway.
This is interesting, with regard to Anaximander:
With his assertion that physical forces, rather than supernatural means, create order in the universe, Anaximander can be considered the first scientist. He is known to have conducted the earliest recorded scientific experiment.
I mean, given Misha's role on the show.

Sadly, I think I've only read one fic featuring Gabriel where he wasn't eventually paired up with Sam like a matching bookend to Castiel.
