Because books.

pretty much normal behavior between bothers who grew up together in each other's pockets

Also who have nothing left but each other, and are, as a rule, in danger of dying or being sucked into hell.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sam and Dean don't touch all that much. They hug when one of them comes back from the dead, which, okay, more than you or I, but my sister will go into a deep sulk if I leave town without a hug, much less go to hell.

They walk close, but actual touching? When Sam's drunk, or one of them is in trouble or pain or something. I have relatives and platonic friends I touch much more. But I out and out cuddle with various family members, so obviously, you know.

And if you finish that I will kill you.

In Blind Spot Dean does not like pancakes. I have no idea if he's eaten them in canon or not, but it got me thinking of food in fic. There was a really sad moment in a Stanford era story where Dean came to visit Sam and hung out with Jess and she cooked salmon and he had no idea what it was. Such a huge "Boys!" moment, as she noted that she'd been the first to serve it to Sam too.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That seems kind of goofy to me, as Dean is clearly no stranger to television and pop culture and thus would not be sufficiently sequestered to be unaware of salmon.

Also, salmon croquettes weren't exactly haute cuisine when I was a kid, and I can easily envision John Winchester buying fish-in-a-can that he could just plop in a skillet and fry for the kids.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I read badfic for the lulz:

He sat the angel down on the bed, gently. Castiel groaned in pain as he sat down and Dean sat down next to him. Dean cupped the angel’s chin so he could gently move his head to examine the head wounds.

Also, just read on someone's LJ that a LGBT movie website has Season 5 of Supernatural amongst their Best New Gay Releases.

Julie, if that's what you call bad, you're doing really well. Or I'm doing really badly.

I'm sorry, this makes me want to laugh so hard. In an unseemly fashion.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Don't get me wrong -- I've read and written Wincest, but when I truly stand back and look at canon, I don't ever see them going there.

I'm sitting on Amy's bench in this discussion. I read Wincest, but I don't see it as anything that would happen in canon - it's not as though I think the screen fades to black and the guys start humping like bunnies. I view the TV version and the fanfic versions as two separate worlds inside my imagination.

On another topic, my brain still expects Thursdays to be Show night. I haven't made the transition to looking for it on Fridays.

(On the other hand, Dean and Castiel have totally been doing it. For realz.)

Because books.

Or at least thinking about it. Happily. At length.

Yeah, Friday is going to be weird.

As long as you think so, that's what matters.

I can't see Castiel as sexual. Sorry.

Something that I can't understand AT ALL when I come across it in the fiction comms are the Dean/Gabriel stories. Seriously? Do they think Dean would let Gabriel, who killed him how many times, and tormented Sam for months unrelentingly, anywhere near him?
