Wait, do you mean posting ends soon and then there will be more posting in October? I thought you meant that's when sign-ups for a new one would begin.
That is odd, although I guess maybe it's just ... two rounds?

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

eh, I didn't like the dragon minibang. I'm finicky when it comes to fairy tales. Aurora Borealis hooked me because 1) it was based on a modern fairytale with a modernish sense of humour, and 2) the prose and tone, when it wasn't being funny, was spot on. But that also might be the awesome influence of the awesome Peter Beagle.
Not to say that I'm a huge fan of getting down with all the old-timey language and prose and the trappings of a fairytale. That horrid fic bauble fic threw me with its prose long before the murder and incest came along. And I really didn't like bauble's Aurora.
But this one, well, didn't really try to be a fairy tale, and wasn't good fantasy. And yeah, should have been gen, but that was the least of it's problems.

Yeah, separate bangs for mini and main. Timing the main long one with the start of the season? Well, I'm not going to turn down good fic, but weird. I guess they couldn't overlap with main bang too much. Some writers signed up with both.
Julie, I thought the relationship and Sam's decision were the weakest part of the dragon fic. I actually liked the conceit pretty well. But both of those characterisations/motivations seem to depend on something outside the story--but neither were actually close enough to canon to rely on that shorthand.
I think if she hadn't tried to convince me of either of those things I'd have given her emotional credit for everything else. Castiel was especially WTF in his relationship reveal.
I've never read Aurora Borealis (I decently liked Aurora, although I haven't finished it yet--it's more beautiful than engaging). I don't know the Peter Beagle canon, so I've avoided it.
Reading Beatty (the Weechester story). I'm concerned that it's too sad and maybe it will become too harsh on John, but right now I want to hug Sam and Dean and then have them hug each other. And then slap Rita. Rum? A nine year-old? Seriously?
Aurora got the language of a fairytale down perfectly. But the tone... there's something about it the feel of it that grosses me out, and that kinda holds true for all of bauble's fics.
I can't say whether Aurora Borealis would play well for a non-Beagle fan, but I'd like to think that it does. I'd certainly love to hear your reaction to it, but I know we're now being inundated with tons of new fic.
Also, here's one more picture, ita, that I'm sure you'd love to see: [link]
I made it just for you.

Fate is protecting me from that link, Julie.
This makes me very sad.

I really wish I hadn't clicked on that.
Nice job, though, Julie.
