We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have a temptation to email authors with corrections, and if I like the fic, sometimes I do. The New Orleans error just struck me as so sad, because it was such an earnest mistake, but so wrong!

And another author I liked misspelled Demian in a bunch of her fics, and I told her the error, but last time I looked? Still Damien. I don't get it.

Because books.

I hate those mistakes, too. The boys never knew vampires were real until late in S1, and they had never faced a wendigo preseries, either.

Oh, that Dean/Bobby story where the author kept calling Bobby's wife Gloria! It's Karen. It's right there in the SuperWiki. Look. It. Up.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

I'm sad at all the good fic I don't have time to read right now.

I'm also sad that I'm only catching up in here after conversations have shifted.

I did sneak in thunderhappens D/C big bang. It was great. I was disconcerted by Sam's absence until I figured out where in the S5 timeline the story took place. There were small details that really pleased me, like a popped collar being protection from potential vampires or other baddies.

Amy, I think you misunderstood an earlier comment of mine. It was my poor word choice, but I have not read and would like to read the story you spoke of that was so good but not appropriate for ita.

Oh, I'm sorry, ehab! I thought you said you'd read it. It's In Your Reflected Light, He Glows by runedgirl. So good.

Thanks for the link. I re-read my response and absolutely understood how it happened. Tricky words with multiple meanings and tenses.

Well, my reading comprehension isn't what it used to be either, believe me. I chalk it up to age, distraction, drugs, and being in the middle of moving right now.

Which one was that? I'm trying to work out why I didn't read it. There was one by thunder_nari, but that was AU (the Novacest, IIRC).

I find myself drawn back to scaramouche's fic. I read it again last night. I'm in love with her Dean and her Cas. Especially her Cas, but her Dean was so...so...I love him. BOYS.

Why is Dean always an athlete in HS AUs, and Sam isn't? Yet canon Sam was a HS athlete. Not that I didn't love scaramouche's Sam (he was totally going to be in the GSA), but still. They could mix that up a bit.

Because he's younger? The image in my head is from After School Special, so I see Sam becoming an athlete later, when *he's* a junior or senior and, you know, taller.

I almost loved Cas more in that fic, ita. He was so exactly based on where the writers took Cas, emotionally and psychologically in The End. And because it was his POV, there was simply much *more* of him, too.

Dean ... didn't feel as recognizable to me until about halfway through. But then I adored him.

But the trophy they find in Bad Day At Black Rock was from when he was 12. He was athletic from way back.

Yeah, he so needed a hug. And a shake. And sexing. Lots.

Dean didn't come into himself until halfway through, but that made sense too. And when he started to break through, he was so cute!

Okay, I need to stop wanting to have babies with that AU. I'm embarrassing myself.

Because books.

Little kids in the U.S. all get trophies for participation in sports, though. And most kids twelve and under do something, soccer or Little League or gymnastics. It doesn't make them athletes necessarily or mean they're especially talented -- it's just something for them to do.

I loved Missouri as the principal, and the mention of Bobby as a teacher, and Crowley! That was a nice twist. And definitely the way Cas and Anna's "Father" was distant and away on business all the time.
