I find myself drawn back to scaramouche's fic. I read it again last night. I'm in love with her Dean and her Cas. Especially her Cas, but her Dean was so...so...I love him. BOYS.

Why is Dean always an athlete in HS AUs, and Sam isn't? Yet canon Sam was a HS athlete. Not that I didn't love scaramouche's Sam (he was totally going to be in the GSA), but still. They could mix that up a bit.

Because he's younger? The image in my head is from After School Special, so I see Sam becoming an athlete later, when *he's* a junior or senior and, you know, taller.

I almost loved Cas more in that fic, ita. He was so exactly based on where the writers took Cas, emotionally and psychologically in The End. And because it was his POV, there was simply much *more* of him, too.

Dean ... didn't feel as recognizable to me until about halfway through. But then I adored him.

Little kids in the U.S. all get trophies for participation in sports, though. And most kids twelve and under do something, soccer or Little League or gymnastics. It doesn't make them athletes necessarily or mean they're especially talented -- it's just something for them to do.

I loved Missouri as the principal, and the mention of Bobby as a teacher, and Crowley! That was a nice twist. And definitely the way Cas and Anna's "Father" was distant and away on business all the time.

But wouldn't that make it decently likely he'd be on a team as a freshman, if he'd been participating in sports since junior high? I mean, obviously Sam's the team sports type and it's always ignored.

Making Dean the team type is a much bigger departure, but it seems to be shorthand for "most popular kid in school" which it seems inevitable he is.

It could? I think it depends, and in real life, playing in a community league and playing for a school team are different, as in anyone can play in the community league but on the school team you have to make the cut.

I think I see Sam as more bookish than you do, especially since he was doing theater and stuff, too. And I don't actually see him as a team player as much of a loner athlete, like ... running track, maybe.

Also, these are AUs, so moving around is rarely an issue in the scenarios where Dean is king of the school. It wouldn't make sense.

Amy that story was fantastic. Lisa's pov was so touching and made me choke up a little.

If only something like that could play out in canon (without the wincest of course).
