Because books.

Young John Winchester is on uStream right now, and he's got a REALLY close-cropped buzz cut.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

There's also a fic that is slashing Sam with a man purse. the murse loves Sam, apparently.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That fic totally scarred me. Yet, I read all the way through.

ita has met her match, and his name is Murse?

Just...poor poor Sam.

Something I'd like to remind writers of:

  • The Winchesters were not familiar with demons pre-series. We get to see them wrangle with exorcisms and the idea of possession.
  • If memory serves, John doesn't find out the YED is a D until pretty late
  • They didn't tangle with any vampires pre-series.
  • Dean has been to New Orleans (I actually sent an author a PM about this--her whole fic was based on the post-finale premise that Dean went there for the first time and I felt bad)
  • They didn't use salt rounds until the Stanford years

It's all there in season 1, seriously. I can't believe your betas don't catch this.

(The fic I'm reading right now has too much pre-series demon activity, plus salt rounds while Dean is 13)

The daggomus-prime DCBB art is up. I find her likenesses are pretty far off, but still...my god, that's awesome art. Oh, the mood and the colour.

DCBB has had some ridiculously great art so far. And the quality of the stories has been decent. Of the ones that I've actually read, I think I've liked upwards of 50%. Which is better than the main big bang.

Haven't read the story that accompanies that art yet. I'll start it before work, maybe finish during lunch.

Finished the D/C story in the main big bang and it was overwrought and ridiculous. Ugh. With bonus creeper Cas.

I'm noticing a trend of people just throwing their fic out there unbeta'd, and they know it, and it feels so lazy, and yet even the ones that say they are are rife with typos, formatting errors, and wonky canon and mythology. Even that DA crossover had demons being killed with iron.

I have a temptation to email authors with corrections, and if I like the fic, sometimes I do. The New Orleans error just struck me as so sad, because it was such an earnest mistake, but so wrong!

And another author I liked misspelled Demian in a bunch of her fics, and I told her the error, but last time I looked? Still Damien. I don't get it.

Because books.

I hate those mistakes, too. The boys never knew vampires were real until late in S1, and they had never faced a wendigo preseries, either.

Oh, that Dean/Bobby story where the author kept calling Bobby's wife Gloria! It's Karen. It's right there in the SuperWiki. Look. It. Up.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

I'm sad at all the good fic I don't have time to read right now.

I'm also sad that I'm only catching up in here after conversations have shifted.

I did sneak in thunderhappens D/C big bang. It was great. I was disconcerted by Sam's absence until I figured out where in the S5 timeline the story took place. There were small details that really pleased me, like a popped collar being protection from potential vampires or other baddies.

Amy, I think you misunderstood an earlier comment of mine. It was my poor word choice, but I have not read and would like to read the story you spoke of that was so good but not appropriate for ita.
