Because books.

So, you know, WHATEVER.

Has the pot met the kettle?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have this big giant hole that needs to be filled with something sprawling and plotty and case!ficcy and full of pathos but light on the navel-gazing

I have some very predictable navel-gazing needs to be filled. But the big bang is spoiling me for long fics (if not for quality, boo hoo), because I too, am finding them too short. I think that's why I didn't like the episodic feel of Immigrant Song too much--because it made it feel shorter. But it's a small beef, because it was really well done. And I did feel that we got into their heads by their actions and words pretty well--that one "Cas" in chapter three said so much and broke me entirely.

What I'd really love is a great gen or het fic, for crying out loud. D/C is an easy button for me, but I still like other stuff.

Has the pot met the kettle?

I think the kettle made the pot. Oops.

Honestly, it felt rushed (and with Big Bangs, I'm sure that's true with a lot of the writers trying to meet the deadline). I think she could go back and flesh each "episode" out more, put more meat on it's bones.

IS made me want more Cas/OFC stories.

I'm ashamed to admit that I don't even know where to look for gen/het fic.

I, uh, still need Dean in those. Like, real bad.

I would hate to be a gen or het only reader in this fandom. It would be barely worth showing up for.

Which reminds me--have I read all the non-weecest Weechester fic? There doesn't seem to be much being generated recently. Bummer. That hits a good spot for me.

ita, the fics for spn_summergen will start going up this Saturday. There's always a lot of Weechester (and other pre-series) fic, and it's nothin' but gen. I think there are 70+ authors this time around.

Dean can be in the background, angsting all over the place, ready to pick up the Cas-shaped pieces when she breaks his heart...

The spn_gen comm over on LJ ain't half bad. There's always new stuff coming through every day. Can't say that all of it appeals to me, but still...

Maybe after I've gotten over my need to have him in the room, sure. But given how rarely it comes up in fic, good luck getting that out of my system.

There's always new stuff coming through every day.

Ooh, I'll have to look. The gen section of the SPN newsletter is always so depressingly underpopulated. And thanks for the spn_summergen heads up.

I seem to have totally lost my ability to read Sassy. I'm actually offended now. I think it's rude of Sam. And I can't wrap my head around Sam/Gabe, so all the D/C S/G fic I look at funny. I wonder if I will get over that. It didn't use to bother me so much. But it's such an "we're all gay!" pity ship to me now.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Yeah, this fandom has spoiled me rotten for gen. Almost all I read is gen. Long, meaty, plotty, delicious gen. Nom nom nom.

Other fandoms, I'm like, "What's with this smexing? Where the hell's the good stuff? Gimme the gen, damn it!"
