Because books.

I am not going to read fic all day again. I am not going to read fic all day again. I am not going to read fic all day again.

Three times is the charm, right?

I will say, before I attempt to be a useful and productive member of society, that watching Sam give Dean the amulet gives me the shivers. The fact that Dean never took that off, all those years ... Oh, BOYS.

A Very Supernatural Christmas also really makes me want to write some disgustingly self-indulgent future fic where they're hunting together again and the world's not ending, and they really think about what to get each other, and not from a gas mart either.

The one you said shouldn't be legal gives me something in ... Italian? And no actual picture.

I think what gets me is how self-conscious JA seems to be *now* about sex scenes or his privacy, so those really young beefcake pictures feel like something he might wish would just disappear now.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Fixed link.

Man, I went through so many pretty pouty pictures to find that. Some were kinda disturbing, but that one totally takes the cake. I'd love to find out he was 18 in it, as little as that matters now. It still looks creepy.

I think it would be really hard to grow up looking like that. No one should be sexualized prematurely, I cannot see how that doesn't affect you. I think that's partly what I find disturbing about those pictures. It's hard to imagine him surviving his adolesence trauma free. On the other hand, Jensen seems amazingly well-adjusted so perhaps he did.

How is the disco shirt the LEAST disturbing thing about that picture?

Tell that to the people who handle teenage girls. It drives me nuts.

Thanks for all the picspam. Made my morning a bit more tolerable.

It boggles the fucking mind. I prefer to think about it in a Supernatural context, because real life ramifications are just too much. There are just so many reasons being a boy that pretty must be rough. So many.

Did see in the picspam he got voted best looking at school.

I'm also not going to trawl through ita's delicious page all day.

Really. Not. I swear.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

There are just so many reasons being a boy that pretty must be rough. So many.

When you look around the world of popslash, the possibiities for abuse are staggering. Justin Timberlake was 14 when NSYNC formed. Even worse, Nick Carter was -- hold onto your hats -- 12!!! and AJ McLean was 14 when Backstreet Boys formed and were sent to Europe and became immensely huge. They were targeted by pederasts and girls and women and everyone with a working sex drive who came near them. Not to mention all the many many photoshoots and the creepy magazines. There are the requisite topless shots there too, and they make me want to bitchslap their moms/guardians even now for allowing it. Particularly after the accusations about their manager were revealed.

In theory, I think marketing teens to teens makes perfect sense. But it's never just that. And sexualising teens and then marketing them to teens isn't what they were doing. Those pics are so not about handholding.

I was a late bloomer, so I have little to relate it to in my own life. But I have watched extended family members extensively sexualise and market themselves while minors, and it was hella creepy. And resulted in emotional upheaval sooner or later. Parents not much use in tamping it down.
