Zoe: Captain will come up with a plan. Kaylee: That's good. Right? Zoe: Possibly you're not recalling some of his previous plans.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

I was just random LJ skimming (looking for D/C authors--it's a continual quest) and I bumped into someone opining that Sam does not love Dean, not like Dean loves Sam.

I run into authors like that every so often. Up at the top of the page where authors so helpfully state that they don't own the characters, I've seen people state things like "if I had my way Sam would have stayed dead and Dean would be driving around with Castiel." Which is always a good clue telling me to hit the Back button. Sam and Dean may have their differences, but they are in the end inseparable. Show will never be the Dean & Castiel show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's when they say "sir" in unison that I get a little weak-kneed.

That's the chocolate ganache on top.

Show will never be the Dean & Castiel show.

I ship those crazy kids like Fed Ex, but the best D/C fic is Awesome!Sam. It just is. I hate the "Sam is out drinking Ruby's blood, the ungrateful heel" or "Sam has decided to never come back in early S5" fics.

Of course, PWP has its own rules, which are...none.

I'm sure if I read more Sam-centric fic I'd be mad at Dean-bashing, but it doesn't come up so much.

And it seems to be a coin toss as to whether John will be my kind of complicated or not. I don't like him too awesome, because he wasn't perfect, but damn, do people go far to vilify him sometimes.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm reading a The Last Unicorn fusion fic and Chuck is the freakin' kitchen cat.

The twist on the narrative is actually fun, and the dialogue and tone is kinda of neat and fairy tale-ish, and then along comes Dean's big entrance and he's all "Dude, what the fuck?", and it was awesome.

Because books.

I love the idea of Sam figuring Dean and Castiel need to face the facts and drop trou before they do. I'm not sure he'd meddle or matchmake as much as some authors have him do, but I think he would be a hundred percent "go get 'em" about it.

I still don't get how you watch this show and absolutely hate one of the boys.

That sounds great! Do you have a link, please?

Yes. "Just consummate your epic romance and stop eye-fucking in front of me all the damn time," Sam is one of my favorites.

Or not believe in the brotherly bond. I mean, the bits where they go on about it must be boring and frustrating.

"Just consummate your epic romance and stop eye-fucking in front of me all the damn time," Sam is one of my favorites.

"You have just scarred me to my core, I did not need to see that," Sam is a close second for me.

Noodle.

Because books.

A good Sam reaction shot to "Last time someone looked at me like that, I got laid," would have been pure win.

I might not have recovered from that much fanservice. I am only human.

I suppose if someone has a visceral dislike for one of the actors it could overpower the story. I know Lindsay Price has a habit of popping up in shows that otherwise star lots of people I like, and forcing me to do the Donald Sutherland point-and-screech.

Calli, it's Aurora Borealis >[link]

It's actually really good. Sam the Red Hot Swammi gets a Molly Grue line near the beginning and it is so awesomely heartbreaking. And I actually like the gen friendship (I think, so far) between Prince Dean and Cas where they're hunting dragons together.
