I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dean was always the main thing.

Absolutely.

Suttee? Is that like hari-kari?

It's the Hindu (extinct) tradition of sacrificing the wife on the husband's funeral pyre. Hari kiri is a matter of honour. Suttee is a matter of...well, property to be honest. But I was romanticising it here.

It's almost sensible that Dean knew he couldn't survive without Sam in AHBL, not without going way dark like Sam did in Mystery Spot.

I don't think of it that way. I imagine a catatonic Dean, unable to function usefully. Sam could get out and hunt, but I'd see Dean on suicide mission after suicide mission solely aimed at getting Sam back. Or nothing. Just shutting down. Perhaps having Ruby around diverted Sam from just that (and I mean that in a positive way), but I don't think so. Mystery Spot had Sam actually killing other baddies.

So being with Lisa might be the only thing that gets Dean out of bed and out of the bottle....until they show me different, that is.

Because books.

Oh, the funeral pyre. Right.

I don't think of it that way. I imagine a catatonic Dean, unable to function usefully.

I was thinking of Dean after John's death, the way he brutally threw himself into killing anything and everything. But I guess a lot of that was fueled by guilt -- his reactions in the zombie ep and in Crossroads Blues had a lot to do with how "what's dead should stay dead," meaning himself, really, and the second chances he was given in Faith and IMToD.

You could be right. All I know is this Dean is a lonely, broken little toaster, and Lisa and Ben might, yes, get him out of bed and to the dinner table, but I can't imagine much else unless enough time passes.

I think I need to stop following SuperWiki on Twitter. They keep posting spoiler items and it's getting harder and harder not to click the links.

I have seen way too many suppositions about which guest stars will appear in S6, and I don't even remember where I saw them, so I can't properly avoid them.

Let's just bring everyone back. Flashbacks, resurrection, ghosts, zombies, revenants, dreams, whatever. I want a hit parade of guest stars.

That way seeing these things won't really have spoilt me for too much.

Oh, look. They've coloured the anime. And Dean's hair is darker than Sam's. Also, grey hoodie.

The supernaturalwiki entry says all the characters other than Sam and Dean will be redesigned visually. Hmmph. I want Sir to look like Sir. Especially the vintage version.

eta: That's another dirty bad thoughts thing--every time he gets called Sir. Why is that?

Because books.

Why is Sam not taller than Dean? That's just ... wrong. Dean can't call him Sasquatch if he's not taller!

Because ... calling John "Sir" is just hot. (That's the sir you meant, I assume?)

Why is that hot? Huh. It's like the sky! Just blue. Because it is.

Huh. I'm going to have to hope those are two pictures incorrectly sized next to each other. Sam needs to be gangling huge.

Which leads me to a fanon question--when did Sam get taller than Dean. I pick 16. That should be okay for Dean's ego, inasmuch as it could ever be.

That's the sir you meant, I assume?

The one, the sexiest.

Because it is.

Ayup.

Because books.

Based on After-School Special, sixteen seems reasonable, if he's fourteen there. One year probably wouldn't be enough to shoot up quite that much.

It's when they say "sir" in unison that I get a little weak-kneed.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

I was just random LJ skimming (looking for D/C authors--it's a continual quest) and I bumped into someone opining that Sam does not love Dean, not like Dean loves Sam.

I run into authors like that every so often. Up at the top of the page where authors so helpfully state that they don't own the characters, I've seen people state things like "if I had my way Sam would have stayed dead and Dean would be driving around with Castiel." Which is always a good clue telling me to hit the Back button. Sam and Dean may have their differences, but they are in the end inseparable. Show will never be the Dean & Castiel show.

That's the chocolate ganache on top.

I ship those crazy kids like Fed Ex, but the best D/C fic is Awesome!Sam. It just is. I hate the "Sam is out drinking Ruby's blood, the ungrateful heel" or "Sam has decided to never come back in early S5" fics.

Of course, PWP has its own rules, which are...none.

I'm sure if I read more Sam-centric fic I'd be mad at Dean-bashing, but it doesn't come up so much.

And it seems to be a coin toss as to whether John will be my kind of complicated or not. I don't like him too awesome, because he wasn't perfect, but damn, do people go far to vilify him sometimes.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm reading a The Last Unicorn fusion fic and Chuck is the freakin' kitchen cat.

The twist on the narrative is actually fun, and the dialogue and tone is kinda of neat and fairy tale-ish, and then along comes Dean's big entrance and he's all "Dude, what the fuck?", and it was awesome.
