I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm dying over here! Now I want to read Cas' porn.

The mending fic I linked had a lot of problems, most notably the timeline in relation to the personalities. Yeah, I couldn't quite get behind Castiel's sense of humour and laughter, but was absolutely haunted by Dean's reaction to the whole thing. Maybe if it had been an AU pre-The End, maybe.

Because books.

haunted by Dean's reaction to the whole thing

That was really lovely.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

One of my favorites has them using pieces of the Impala to build or repair motorcycles (use less gas, more maneuverable over broken roads and through barricades), clearing out ghosts and fighting roving bands of looters, leaving spray-painted pentacles (circled five-pointed star--without the circle it's a pentagram) as a sign to themselves and others the place has been "cleaned". As survivors scavenge behind them, their reputation for fighting evil grows, and the sign is mis-interpreted. They're called "the marshals". It's improbable in spots, but fun, old west style. No, no link. I've been looking for it again for a while. Read it before I routinely bookmarked stuff.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, the Castiel doesn't work for me, but the Dean, from "Douche move" to the repression of graver emotion worked well.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

Signed, wrote Connor/Darla and Connor/Jasmine.

You just reminded me of canon Connor/Cordelia. That pinged my incest squick FAR more than Sam/Dean despite that they weren't related.

ETA: Juliebird the D/C pie video was adorable! He farted hearts.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

THANK YOU, Morgana! That's it! Mem'd.

What I remember most about that story was that part about how when the Impala died Sam incoporated parts of her into the motorcycle so that they could keep her with them. It was a rare moment of warm & fuzzy in the midst of apocafic.

Because books.

Oh wow, it's been so long since I read Under a Haystack, and it's KILLING me. DEAN. And I love this Sam, too. God, this is good.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I'm watching Dark Side of the Moon.

Ouch.

Since we've been finding stories for one another, maybe someone can help me find this one:

I think I read it sometime in the last 6-8 months and foolishly didn't save it to my bookmarks. I read it on LJ, and I think it's in 2 parts. What I remember: it's future-fic, set after the apocalypse has been settled. Dean has been married, has a daughter and son and is separated from his wife (who is now dating, because she shows up at Bobby's with the guy). He shares custody of the kids, and he's living with Bobby. He hasn't seen Sam for years when suddenly one Halloween Sam reappears out of the shadows down at the end of the long driveway to the junkyard.

It seems that as part of how they dealt with the apocalypse Sam became sort of dark/demonic (although if I remember correctly he's using his abilities to protect Dean's family from supernatural threats and to keep the seals closed). He can only come through to see Dean on Halloween. Dean has to break the wards around the house to let Sam through. I think they go out for a drink at a bar, and I don't remember why Sam leaves abruptly that year, but he comes back the next year. They're surprised when it turns out that Dean's daughter has had dreams about Sam and they recognize each other right away. The guys take the kids trick or treating. Dean tries to convince Sam to stick around. And yes, it does turn into wincest. I don't think Dean's kids are old enough to be hunting yet. In fact I'm not sure if he even ever told them about the hunting life - I can't remember. I do remember him telling the daughter that if she sees anything that scares her and he's not around that she should go find Sam right away, and she was a bit surprised that Dad ranked Sam even ahead of Uncle Bobby.

So, does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
