I'm not judging Sam's choice--just saying that asking Gabriel's help is little considering virgin sacrifice was palatable to him before the end of the world was on the line. However, it's still a far cry from him sitting down and sharing a brew with him. It's just what needs to be done to win the war.

Beautiful, quiet, heartbreaking D/C fic, "By a Thread" [link]
I think Jus in Bello was remarkable (for this show) for presenting an ethical dilemma with no 'right' answer.
I mean I *know* the right answer for me but it interests me that there are equally emphatically correct answers that are not mine. This show does does not usually pull off presenting the moral subtleties so well. Kudos to Sera.
That was a really interesting little fic, Juliebird, but the one thing that threw me right out was "proper vagrants". Have someone Britpick your work, British ficcers! Ugh.
Castiel was way too emotional and lighthearted for me in that fic, although I liked the Dean.
I may be still sort of half awake, but I read that as Teh Dean. Like ... Teh Sex. "Does you fic have Teh Dean? It need Teh Dean!"
I ... have a hard time picturing Dean mending *now* although I like that he was doing it as a kid. Personally I love wee!Chester (or teen!Chester really) fic where Dean cooks.
"Does you fic have Teh Dean? It need Teh Dean!"
Dude, that's my fic mantra. Followed closely by Teh Sammeh. But Teh Dean is just about mandatory.

I'm totally down with that shit. I'm filing it with the laundromat, and the concerts and the starwatching--only we just haven't seen it yet. They must go through such heavy damage. They can't toss everything that gets ripped, or wear everything as rakishly as the jeans (does Sam wear torn jeans, or just Dean?).
Cooking Dean is the win. I prefer fics where he's decent at it, even if he doesn't go crazy often. The idea where he's been reheating Sam's entire life is completely depressing. But maybe my momma spoilt me.
I don't recall having bumped into Cooking Sam, and he does mention he cooked for himself during The Children Are Our Future. I'm assuming this is when John and Dean were hunting.
Yeah, I don't see Dean as a gourmet, but I like to think he could at least put decent burgers together, make spaghetti and even doctor a jar of sauce with some of his own spices. He for sure knew how to make good eggs and bacon.
In my head, there's one summer where got stuck home with Sam for about six weeks because Sam had broken his ankle, and actually experimented with making pie, too.
experimented with making pie
I want to read this!
