...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

Here's my late contribution to the spoiler topic. I've learned through experience spoiler-free is the only way to go for me.

Often the explanation for being spoiled is to be prepared. This I've learned does not work for me. Instead spoilers make me anxious. I end up speculating or worse participating in forums where there's spoiler speculation. This speculation usually leads to lowered expectations and disappointment, disappointment leads to anxiety, and the anxiety leads no where good. For me, it's a fast way to ruin a show before it's even aired.

The other thing I've learned is I like show surprising me.

I frequently cave for casting, previews, and episodic publicity pictures. I don't really consider those spoilers, though they definitely can be. Angel notoriously spoiled me in the credits with Darla and Drusilla visits.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If I'm really into the storyline of a show (as with SPN this year), I don't want to know anything about upcoming plots or who future guest stars are playing. But for something I just like and catch when I can (like Castle), spoilers don't impact my enjoyment. And for shows that I think are crap but watch for whatever reason (like Stargate: 90210Universe), the more lead time I have on knowledge of upcoming fail, the better.

Because books.

I just looked up nephilim and confused myself. I never knew there was any definition of them that made them some giant race.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, he is a giant. . . do we think THAT is the Winchester family secret?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Things like knowing Adam was coming back really annoyed me this year. Knowing they were going to a convention, wouldn't have. With lines like that, it's safer to stay away from the meaty stuff. But, since I'm happy spoiling myself for other shows, it's difficult with the threads here (in theory, not in fact) to make sure I'm safe.

As things are, google is what spoiled me for Adam, without me even clicking on anything or searching for spoilers. Muy irritating.

do we think THAT is the Winchester family secret?

The long fic I last linked to, Absolution and then Kin, did hinge on Sam being Nephilim, but not through conception, just through taint of blood.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

The whole nephilim thing does seem ripe for fic. Although that could lead me down an mpreg path that I'd just as soon avoid. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Have we considered that Sam might be an angel? Today in "On the Head of a Pin" a streetlight flickered when Anna showed up.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It would be new. We haven't had any indications that you can make angels. Or do you mean that he's possessed by Lucifer? Or Michael? Because I'm pretty sure we're done with that.

Maybe he's Castiel! That's a mess.

Didn't Anna get a body back after it was dead? Can you wear your own meatsuit?

She recreated a body in the image of her own. But she never had a meatsuit--that's what she was born into when she fell and lived her life.

I'm 100% sure that we're getting Sam back, not something Sam-shaped. It might take a bit to get back into the groove, but the show is about brothers, and if that's not really Sam, this isn't really Show. So Sam being dead and this being something riding his facsimile? Really doubtful.
