I caught her on a park bench, making out with a *chaos* demon! Have you ever seen a chaos demon? They're all slime and antlers.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ah, coffee is had. Now I have the kids here with me to watch the Rose Parade on tv.

Every so often I have these moments of kind of uncanny memory when I do something with my kids that I did a gazillion times when I was a kid growing up. It's hard to explain, but it is as if I can feel the presence of me and my siblings there alongside my own kids. It is a good feeling. Plus Stefanie Edwards is back.

Oh, happy birthday Susan!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Well, I don't know if this was 2008 getting one last lick in, or 2009 starting badly, but I just found out friends of mine had to put their elderly cat to sleep this morning. Enough, already!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I prefer to think that the cat wanted to live to see 2009.

God knows, ::I:: did.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy New Year, Buffistas!

Conversation with Matilda this morning as we snuggled in bed:

Matilda: [whilst climbing on my head] I love you, Daddy.
Me: Awww. I love you too. Happy New Year!
Matilda: Happy Yarn!

She and Emmett are cuddled on the couch watching Kiki. I'm about to make waffles. JZ is in a flurry of New Year cleaning.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy birthday, Susan!

(From now on, x-posted with Bitches)

Just to update you that I'm back at my parents' after my mom's uncle funeral, and safe.

Sirens caught us in Be'er Sheva. Those were few very scary minutes. I'll probably try to travel less to my parents after this experience. The city itself was very empty.

(I saw Jessica's post in Beep Me, and couldn't help but think "umm, I didn't search for 2009 in the skies when the sirens went on... dammit. Maybe I would have seen it coming!")

And Happy-New-Year, those who celebrate it.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Happy New Year everyone! I ended up asleep by 8:30, so no champagne and very little Thin Man for me. Perhaps we'll try again tonight. I did get a beautiful 13 hours of sleep, which I desperately needed. Now I am nicely Vicodined and about to attempt my first shower since Monday. It's the little things...

“Not dead yet!”

Aw guys, talk about starting the new year off on a lovely note. Abby just cooked her first real food item with minimal help from me. She got a cookbook for Christmas and decided that she wanted to make her daddy the "Rocky Top Brownies." It's essentially a boxed brownie mix topped with chopped Reese's peanut butter cups, but she measured and mixed all the ingredients herself and chopped the peanut butter cups and prepped the pan and set the oven and basically everything.

And they were om nom nom nom. Hee! (Best part too, Nate's very interested and wants to be involved as well.)

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Sumi, I've been having discoveries of things that Netflix has on Watch Now (I'm almost done with the UK Office, so I will soon be able to watch the US). I ::heart:: technology.

Hooray for cooking success!
