You know me! I'm like, "Go school! It's your birthday!" Or something to that effect.

Good Flight! and Happy New Year!

I guess it is 09 on the East Coast now, isn't it?

Alan Rickman is also going to be on the Queen's New Year's Honor's List.

Happy New Year to everyone!

I just finished watching a History Channel show on the French Revolution (blood and terror and Robespierre--yay?), and have the NYC celebration on mute (only way to watch Carson Daly).

I'm sad that there seem to be no Fred and Ginger movies available tonight.

Yes, this! I grew up with Fred and Ginger films being the only thing on tv when I babysat on NYE (pre-VCR and cable), and totally associate the two. I did see Fred on last night's What's My Line rerun, so that was a plus (he didn't do a good job of disguising his voice, so they figured out who he was pretty quickly).

Oh, TCM does have That's Entertainment running all night--that's a good way to see him! Bing and Satchmo are singing right now in Part Two.

ETA: Fred is now singing "A Couple of Swells" with Judy!!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy New Year to you East Coasters!

We had hors d'oeuvres and cosmos for dinner. Yum. I feel the need to plug TJs roasted pecan and blue cheese dip for those who like such things. I just went back and had a bit more of it. My MiL played the Devoted Son card on my DH and made him play chauffeur for her tonight, so he's dropping her back home right now. And thanks to msbelle I decided to make waffles for breakfast tomorrow. I've been wanting to try out a yeasted batter anyway so I made it up tonight so it can proof overnight.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Happy New Year!

Some of my bosses let us off work between 2 and 3, so I got to rattle around the house a bit before heading out to celebrate. Our office manager acted all worried and apologetic when informing me I'd lose a couple hours leave time with the year turnover, but my workday ended up being shortened by more time than I lost.

Dinner at Napa Cafe was superb (marinated shrimp, pan-seared grouper, and bread pudding with a ginger cream sauce), but I did not get seated in Hot Gyllenhall-alike Waiter's section, and the one time the lackluster waitress I did get decided to be attentive was when he was passing by, thus eliminating any opportunity for flirting. Hope that bit of cock-blocking was enjoyable enough to make up for the percentage it knocked off your tip, Gidget.
