Happy New Year!
Some of my bosses let us off work between 2 and 3, so I got to rattle around the house a bit before heading out to celebrate. Our office manager acted all worried and apologetic when informing me I'd lose a couple hours leave time with the year turnover, but my workday ended up being shortened by more time than I lost.
Dinner at Napa Cafe was superb (marinated shrimp, pan-seared grouper, and bread pudding with a ginger cream sauce), but I did not get seated in Hot Gyllenhall-alike Waiter's section, and the one time the lackluster waitress I did get decided to be attentive was when he was passing by, thus eliminating any opportunity for flirting. Hope that bit of cock-blocking was enjoyable enough to make up for the percentage it knocked off your tip, Gidget.
Happy New Year all and to all a good night!
Happy New Year to the West Coast too!
I guess I'll stay up until 12, but then I'm going to bed.
Hee, Cashmere!
Muppet is moving closer to forgiving me for going away. She deigned to sit next to me on the couch last night, but she's still not getting up on the bed. Chumley, of course, is a complete slut.
I just weighed him and he's lost 5 pounds in the past 4 months, so the Diet (and consequent Complaining About The Diet) is working.
This just in: carrots gain no apparent advantage from being orange.
Skipping to happy-new-year everybody who-starts-a-new-year, and also because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Susan W's birthday.
Happy birthday, Susan! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Happy New Year! And Happy Birthday, Susan!
Boy, reading people's NYE menus is making me hungry. Luckily my upstairs neighbor does a NY Day brunch every year. I just have to settle for party left-overs and coffee until 11.
Dinner for me last night was a slice of pizza, because I was busy getting the party nibbles around. TJ's artichoke dip is great! I also had 3 kinds of cheese, olive dip, French bread and sesame crackers, and chocolate dip with ginger cookies, apples, and tangerine slices for dunking. There was also prosecco, a sparkling shiraz, sodas, and cider for drinking. And absinthe for after midnight, which seems to be becoming a tradition in my home.
