This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

Now that I'm back from the haircut from hell...xposted with Bitches...I'm going to broil some mahi mahi, steam some green beans, make mashed sweet potatoes and top it all off with fresh baked (not by me) gingerbread. It's nearly 2 inches high and frosted with a yummy chocolate glaze.

I also have herbed brie and enormous green olives to nom whlle I'm cooking.

Sparkling cider for later and a viewing of, I think, Sliding Doors.

Siiigggghhhh. Life is good.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm in pajamas, sitting on my couch and doing not much of anything, which is a very nice way to spend an evening.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I am meeting my darling M for an earlyish dinner at our usual place, followed by inside pants and movies for me and working for him. NYE is an amateur's holiday from a bartender perspective anyway, so I know what friends aren't working are home. We'll all see each other at various bars tomorrow, I know that.

But! I did dress up, because I like dressing up, and I know I'll be wearing inside pants soon enough.

NYE is an amateur's holiday

Bwah.

As a not-much drinker, alcohol based holidays just don't do it for me. Niether does forced merriment.

Contemplation, comfort and good food? Now THAT is my kind of holiday. Which, given those parameters, I can actually celebrate every day. That's a great notion to carry into the new year.

I had safeway soup (santa fe creamy chicken enchilada ) with extra corn.

I was tired. Just like I have been every working day since...I don't know. Several people in my team are lobbying facilities for an exorcism. The last half of the year has been insane.

hip deep in pie

I just woke up from an accidental nap (cold medicine + fleece throw + cat making biscuits on you = 2 hour nap) and now am watching Anne of Green Gables, The Sequel and wondering how my lips got so chapped in one day.

And totally wearing inside pants.
