hairdressing and chef require a lot of standing. Of course plumbing and A/C work can require heaving lifting.

Punishingly Intricate
I have been thinking about hairdressing school.
My best friend in SF had most of a grad degree in English lit and had been working in various office jobs for years. She just really wasn't suited for office work and these jobs made her really unhappy. So she went to beauty school when she was in her mid-30s and has been working as an aesthetician since then and now is in nursing school. This kind of hands-on work with people work makes so much more sense for her.

My mother always felt that it was a fundamental flaw of the US educational system, that people weren't encouraged to go to trade schools.
