We've had a pleasant Christmas so far. We came over from to hotel to ND's family for presents around 9 and since then have been chatting and puttering. I made hot mulled cider and took the turkey out of the brine (which it's been marinating in since last night) and prepared it for roasting, a la Alton Brown. It's now stuffed with fresh rosemary and sage, a sliced apple, and a sliced onion. ND's sister made a delicious stuffing separately and then put some of it into the cavity; the rest will go into the oven about a half hour before the turkey is ready. Yum. Meanwhile, she's making a green bean casserole and other side dishes.
I should really be grading exams (I'm paying for not working on any of it last week), but for now I'm just going to be lazy. My mom and gram should be landing soon, and I'm hopeful I can see them later this afternoon.
Anyway, happy happies to all!
She had a LIFE. Goodbye, you daring, sultry dame!
I can't post a link from my iphone, but the NYT obit had me tearing up.
ION, we have had second Christmas - in Brooklyn. Have eaten and I am seriously ready for bed. mac, less so.
I scored some excellent stuff this year: memberships to MOMA and AMNH, a beautiful MOMA scarf, some canisters, some earrings, 4 glasses of my crystal, a sigg bottle, socks, and a battery charger.
Kristen is in the kitchen burning herself on the roast beast.
My dad got my nephew an ATV. There were no other gifts that mattered after that point.
My niece was terrified of the pig I got her, it made her cry. It was a No Win xmas for Auntie.
oh my.
KR - my brother gave Vampire People as a gift this year, I meant to tell you last night when I found out.
My niece was terrified of the pig I got her, it made her cry. It was a No Win xmas for Auntie.
Two questions: was it a live pig? and how old is the niece?
