Swouncing

I fell asleep with the exams in my lap, and have just now woken up. I missed waving hello to Perkins and Sue and Hil and everybody.

Now it's a race, me and the clock, who has their continually changing (and therefore slower to grade) mistakes. Who wins in the battle of giants? Only time will tell. And by time I mean 1.5 hours, minus the seconds it takes me to click "post".

I will have to actively try to reduce the amount I miss my Buffistas some other almost-but-not-yet-morning, alas.

Have good company, good food, and in general, simply good things, regardless of any religion or lack thereof, OK?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm looking at the Google graphic...and not having a real clear idea of what we're supposed to be seeing. I see the people, and that there's stuff on the table, but I do not know what the stuff is, or what the "flashes of light" are supposed to be.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah. If you click on it, it's a series of four graphics, with what looks like a father and son putting together some sort of gadget, but I still don't get it. Maybe the last one will be tomorrow, showing what it means?

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Flight delays are the devil. My son and DiL's plane was scheduled to leave O'Hare at 4:50. They delayed until 5:30, then 6:30 and then 8:00. Sigh. They got here around 8:30 and we got luggage and out of the airport by 8:50. I'm home. I have cookies and I'm not afraid to eat them. There may be none left for anyone else tomorrow.

Nilly! Did you get the email I sent you last week? (Not much actual content in it. Mostly just: Look! Fun comic! [link] )

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

mac and I went to my brothers for a Eve party and had a nice time wherein he mostly watched videos in one room and I got to talk to grown-ups and have some alcohol. YAY!. Now he is crashed in my bed and the presents have all been brought out and put under the tree. My Christmas Eve miracle is that the elevator was still going to the basement at 11:55 even though it is supposed to be locked by 9pm. This allowed me to get the presents from Grandma and Granddad. YAY! I think I should set up the coffee pot to come on automatically around 7 and then get myself to bed.

Happy Chrismakah to all!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So, we opened presents tonight because the DH was very antsy that we do so. Usually, he insists we wait until Xmas morning and that we do it "right,", which is funny since he's the Jew in the family. Our BiL is visiting, along with our friend Ed who comes out from NYC for a week every year.

A few months ago I got a troll doll which I put on a shelf in the kitchen. Well, there were about a dozen beautifully-wrapped boxes for me from Jason. He kept handing them to me with great drama, and I would open them, and ALL of them were full of troll dolls. All kinds, all ugly, all with the delightful hair which so mesmerized me when I was seven. I kept opening boxes and pulling out trolls and it was the funniest thing ever. I now own about 80 trolls.

The last one he handed me had a tiny box at the bottom, and in it was a beautiful engagement ring! Since our actual engagement was only three days long due to the whole eloping thing, all I have is a plain gold band. He got me a lovely ring which looks a lot like this: [link] but with champagne diamonds. So pretty and so thoughtful and a total amazing surprise.

Tomorrow is movie day.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Suzi, does your Persian family celebrate Yalda?

My sister and BiL made it fine. All the gifts are under the tree, the kids are asleep and I'm double checking my ham glaze recipe for tomorrow.

Happy Holidays, Buffistae. You rock and I'm thankful for each and every one of you.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Cash - no. About the only Persian thing we celebrate is Nou Rooz - Persian New Year (aka, first day of spring). After looking Yalda up on wiki, I'm going to have to ask my dad about it.

I had a Persian friend wish me a Happy Yalda so I just wondered. It's interesting. I like Persian holidays.

So tired. I need to sleep before the big day tomorrow. Recipes bookmarked.
