Suzi, does your Persian family celebrate Yalda?
My sister and BiL made it fine. All the gifts are under the tree, the kids are asleep and I'm double checking my ham glaze recipe for tomorrow.
Happy Holidays, Buffistae. You rock and I'm thankful for each and every one of you.
Cash - no. About the only Persian thing we celebrate is Nou Rooz - Persian New Year (aka, first day of spring). After looking Yalda up on wiki, I'm going to have to ask my dad about it.
I had a Persian friend wish me a Happy Yalda so I just wondered. It's interesting. I like Persian holidays.
So tired. I need to sleep before the big day tomorrow. Recipes bookmarked.
Scrappy, that's so wonderful! I'm thrilled for you.
Have good company, good food, and in general, simply good things, regardless of any religion or lack thereof, OK?
I love Nilly so much. This is the perfect sentiment.
We're having an okay holiday here, except I'm sick and my brother's wife is stuck in Chicago because their dog needed emergency surgery: he ate a beach ball. So now she's home alone and my brother can't even get a flight back to spend the holiday with his wife because the weather's so bad. Poor guy; I feel really bad for him. And her. And their dog.
In better news, we're gonna have a kickass dinner tomorrow.
I was hoping to read some of the Yuletide stories before I went to bed, but it looks like the search functions aren't open on the archive yet. Ah, well.
Merry Christmas, for those who celebrate!
And Happies all around!
I, of course, have woken up extra early, but then I fell asleep around 10 PM. So I might as well start my day anyway....
And...we are done with stockings and presents. 40 minutes start to stop. Mac is thrilled and happily engaged with new toys. I have coffee on.
Happy Day to all.
Merry Christmas! Happy Thursday!
I have to clean the bathroom before people get here. And finish wrapping.
Waiting for the creatures to awake and the chaos to begin. And of course, my parents to arrive. Birthday yesterday was a success and D is now 6 years old! How did that happen??
I've had good bonding time with my brother and SIL, and of course, the boys. I'm making every effort not to bogart them because they do seem to gravitate more toward me than the parents, despite the fact that I'm a whole helluva lot "meaner." (Read: stricter.) I'm just one step behind mom and dad when it comes to acceptable comforting people, especially with T.
Anyway, happy christmas to those that celebrate and happy-everything-else-because-it-is-that-early-for-me-still for everyone else!
