I'm so sorry, but if it makes you feel any better, my fun-time-Buffy party night involved watching a robot throw Spike through a window, so if you want to trade... no wait, I wouldn't give up that memory for anything.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Salon's piece on the epic fail of the publishing industry just scared the bejeesus out of me.

I'm spending my xmas vacation time rewriting. Why? It's weighing heavy on my pipe-dream of becoming a best-selling author before I die.

“Not dead yet!”

Salon's piece on the epic fail of the publishing industry just scared the bejeesus out of me.

Eh, it was okay. Had some interesting points, but there's a lot of utter bullshit in there, like this:

"A lot of good writers will be losing their editors, and loyalty is very important in this field."

Loyalty means dick in this field. The minute a writer becomes extraneous or doesn't fit the model the imprint wishes to follow, they're shown the door. The same holds true for editors and publishers. Everyone is expendable.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Heck, I didn't know she had a mouth.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I've only ever known it as cilantro. And actually didn't know it existed as a dried ingredient until I went to college.

It's an American thing. In Australia, for instance, there's fresh coriander, dried coriander, chopped coriander, ground coriander, coriander seeds, but it's all coriander.

FTR, it's just the leaves I can't stand. No problem with the seeds.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

My brother's the same way, bt. He can deal with coriander, but after a bad experience with too much cilantro in a soup that made him ill, he won't touch the leaf anymore.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I just took that 2008 news quiz--got 80%, and would have done a bit better if my coin flips had gone the other way on six questions. Still, not too bad!
