I think they were hoping he'd grow up to become a supervillain and marry Cat Woman.
To go along with Steampunk, we now have Dieselpunk: [link]
Check out the second picture down of the bizarre Japanese aircraft carrier Kaga in 1926. Kaga was later extensively rebuilt, losing the odd horizontal smokestack down its side. Kaga was one of the carriers that attacked Pearl Harbor, and was later sunk by dive bombers from the USS Enterprise at the battle of Midway in 1942.
Snowpocalypse in NYC has devolved into Rainpocalypse: The Enslushening. It is just gross out there.
Yeah, that doesn't sound appealing at all. I was reminded yesterday that I live in the suburbs, since there was hardly any snow on the ground in Manhattan, but plenty in my neighborhood. I hear people clearing outside, and it's almost 40 out, so I hope by the time I get out there, the sidewalks are clear.
I'm out of milk (for Dylan) and cream (for my coffee) and bacon (for dinner) so at some point I will have to venture outside. Not looking forward to it.
dudes, mac grew 3/8 of an inch in the last 11 days. wtf.
So he's taller than you now, right?
Tom, you went to American Girl? You are a much braver person than I am. I'm troubled by the thought of doing anything more social than posting here.
Did I mention that my parents are in town?
Kristen's Roommate? We're going to Skirball on 12/24 to see the Noah's Ark exhibit if you'd like to join us. Also, if you'd like to come by and have dinner or treats with us, we'll be here.
I was up way way too late last night watching my brother rebuilt his engine (blew a head gasket the day before I got here.) It was fascinating, but whoa, time got away from us and I think we were up past 3, and of course I sleep like ass my first night anywhere.
Waiting for him to finish tuning it before heading into the throngs.
Nephews are cute as ever.
It's cold out. -5 F, with a wind chill of -20 to -30. That's cold by Wisconsin or Minnesota standards even.
We have -8 with a -28 windchill. And it's STILL snowing. I'm bummed because the kids have been in the house for four days and I really wanted to take them to the gym today. Their colds are finally clearing up and the gym's daycare is usually empty on Sunday afternoon.
Kat! It's Sunday already, isn't it? (Early am ER visit has thrown off my time sense). Too asocial to come by today? (Don't worry--I totally get it, plus parents).
Just heard that family hasn't hooked up beach time yet.Mostly sold out, I'm told. Now I'm irritable. Every time I come home we do beach time As news go, it's the kind that's not, but how much can I complain that they aren't doing this ritualstic nice thing for me? And them--it's not like I go alone? '
ita, you're leaving on the 24th, yes? DAMN. Time is getting away from me (we missed an OT appointment yesterday because I got confused).
Noah has speech therapy right now. Is tomorrow a possibility, ita?
