That's the thrill of living in the Hellmouth! There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends and devils and ghouls to engage ... Pardon me for finding the glass half-full.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

The older Obama daughter (Malia?) is really beautiful.

Thanks for the help tracking my father through the wilds of World War II. Boy, I wish I'd grabbed his collection of swizzle sticks from bars in New York.

you can shoot me an email with the info you know

When I get home to all the stats, I'll send you a copy

Folks who are looking for WW2 records

CaBil, I will be happy to send a copy to you as well.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Oh, man. Getting woken up by a ringing phone while in the middle of a horrific zombie dream is really not the way to start the morning.

I've set the Time magazine cover of Obama--and his asterix--as my new computer desktop.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

From McSweeney's: An Electoral-College breakdown for my French in-laws that meets all their preconceptions.

I'm trying to decide if his description of Florida or Ohio is more apt, but they did call Laura, Tep and Cash to mind.

Heh. The description of soccer in Ohio's section was 100% on the money:

For them, "soccer" is the word for Europe's national pastime, but in Ohio this sport is only allowed to be played until the age of 13.

Oooh, there's an "Obama Daily community on LJ!

The set of pictures from yesterday when the Obamas went to the White House, made me think a few things:

(1) Dude, the Obamas -- both of them -- are SO MUCH TALLER than the Bushes (both of them)!

(2) W. looks a little uncomfortable next to Barack.

(3) In the picture (I can't link to the individual pictures, which sucks) where W. and Barack are walking down the hall-like area with the fan-shaped window behind them, Obama looks SO at ease and SO comfortable, like he's already moved in. And W. looks constipated.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My new work computer is here! But I don't know when it will actually get to my desk, so I can't decide when I should start cleaning everything out of my browser, etc. God forbid I should just work until then....

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm also in on the Obama & Family adoration, which is absolutely the first time I've found that kind of affection for a President (or just about any politician/political family, ever.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Poor Laura Bush looks so dowdy in those pictures.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

1. Why tell me about the great Depression, PBS?

2. Why is it that the situation before the Great Depression seem so much like our situation now?

I was watching that last night, too, and had the same reaction. Housing boom followed by big-time crash? Check! Twenty-some years since the last market crash (1987)? Check! The money getting concentrated in the hands of a few? Check! Everyone else thinking that they could make it rich just as easily as "the few" did? Check! Everything on credit/margin? Check!

Sort of like how I greet my brother with "HEY DORK!" but, you know, classier.

Hee--this reminds me of Rachel Maddow yesterday. After she mentioned that the Obamas got Secret Service code names, she said, "My code name is 'Dork-nozzle.'" I loves me some dorky Rachel!
