Question: Will hiding in a cavern with stockpiled chocolate goods be any part of this plan?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Just had our Holiday open house. lots of good peeps there--sorry not to have Kat or Drew or Allyson or Lori or other Localistas, but we did get to see Norah and Kristin and Alibelle (and her charming mom!) and Paula and Bon and Bob--along with our other friends. We are wiped but I think the party went well. We are so lucky with the amazingness of the people we know.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I love the dress, Erin.

If I had a NYE party to go to, I would probably buy this to wear to it. [link]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Some great dresses linked to here.

My apartment sucks for large numbers of people. My last apartment, while about the same square footage, was much more linear, so multiple groups could hang out easily. NSM in this one. Much more communal.

I have had a hot toddy and a bowl of steel-cut oats and I'm completely overheated. So my front door is open (and the fan on) AIFG. SO there.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I am bailing on a party tonight, because the other friend who was going to be there is sick, and it's an hour away, and and and.

In short, am lame.

::joins Jesse in lame corner::

I came home from the bookstore after 5:00 and sat down to decompress before getting ready for my friend's party in East Rogers Park tonight. I woke up at 8:30, three hours later. Oy. I called and left an apology on her voice mail that I hope she gets, because I suggested getting together tomorrow for brunch/lunch/dinner/movie/whatever.

I really do want to see her, it's just too damn late to schlep out to the city tonight.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I'm not participating in the holiday spirit this year. I'm preparing to be unemployed and moving to Iowa. My bosses told me Friday that the time they can keep me on is running out. So, I've decided to be unemployed and poor near family. At least there will be the occasional free meal!

Actually, this is what I've wanted to do for awhile, but didn't think I could afford to! What a joke! Now I'm moving without any job!

So, I've been looking for ways to buy my own health insurance, because the COBRA for my current plan is way too expensive. I sure hope Obama can do something about health coverage for everybody.

ETA, Those are some gorgeous dresses!

God, watching the MS episodes of The West Wing makes me think I have MS again. NB: I don't really think I have MS.

Punishingly Intricate

oh man, the restaurant I used to go to ALL. THE. TIME. when i first moved here 10 odd years ago has seriously gone downhill. My friend and I had to explain to the couple (who had just moved here) that there really were good restaurants in B'more. Beans undercooked and oddly seasoned and teeny tiny practically brine shrimp that were overcooked. bleh!!!

but the margariters were still strong and delicious. lordy.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I am lame too! I am sitting at home instead of out watching the SO's symphony concert, because I came home from work all periody and grumpy and went to sleep on the loveseat in the sunroom. He woke me up long enough to ask me if I wanted to go or not, and I voted not.

But then I woke up groggy a little bit later and felt guilty for the rest of the evening. Now would have been a good time to have two cars, because I was up and fine in time for the show, just not in time for the band call.

Well, it would be a good time to have two cars anyway, because ours appears to be on the outs.

Anyway, it's very windy now and has been for, like, two days. And that's driving me a little batty.

Otherwise, yay, pretty dresses. Yay, office parties of varying degrees of whoo.
