"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I am lame too! I am sitting at home instead of out watching the SO's symphony concert, because I came home from work all periody and grumpy and went to sleep on the loveseat in the sunroom. He woke me up long enough to ask me if I wanted to go or not, and I voted not.

But then I woke up groggy a little bit later and felt guilty for the rest of the evening. Now would have been a good time to have two cars, because I was up and fine in time for the show, just not in time for the band call.

Well, it would be a good time to have two cars anyway, because ours appears to be on the outs.

Anyway, it's very windy now and has been for, like, two days. And that's driving me a little batty.

Otherwise, yay, pretty dresses. Yay, office parties of varying degrees of whoo.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I lamed out of the scrappy party, but moving from my lounge has been pretty much beyond me all day.

Watching the Barry Manilow episode of Graham Norton, which is LOL funny. No, really. And Barry seems to have released a Paul Young cover, which is just weird. But it means I heard "I can't smile" for the first time today (Hellboy II) and the second (movie's closing lyrics) and the third (sung by an audience member on Graham Norton).

All full up, thanks.

lisah, where so I can avoid? I was very sad to discover PaperMoon doesn't make monte cristos with challah anymore and their veggie burgers are now faux-meat rather than ...well, veggie-faux. Freaked my veggie friend out who'd eaten there before. She doesn't want her veggie burgers to taste like meat.

Loki pried open a new crate of litter and went to town, digging like a miner. The little lunatic didn't want to use it, just go crackers. Kittens=craxy.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I almost caught up on the Tivo after mac fell asleep. Now I really need to get to bed so I can get the following done tomorrow morning:

laundry
bake cookies
maybe frost/decorate cookies
make holiday decorations presentable
box up things that sold on ebay (WOOT!)

While mac is with his uncle in the afternoon, I am treating myself to a pedicure......and then going grocery shopping, but PEDICURE!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Kittens are so damn crazy.

Loki is an adorable representation of the species.

Art Crawl!!!

Kittens are crazy. Last night I got to hear lots of crazy kitten stories from a friend. She has a kitten who loves climbing the curtains. Also, leaping out at people from those high spots she reaches from the curtains.

He really is. A, my hairdresser, was laughing at me today when I described him. She got a kitten of his vintage about a year before, and now has a 3 month old baby. She says the kitten was just breaking her in for motherhood's sleeplessness (though it is the kitten, not her infant, who is still waking her up in the wee smalls.)

I can't believe how much I totally forgot what fruitcakes kittens are. Devi was a trip for well over 3 years, and yet still...

What keeps him alive is that he comes up to me and falls over. I'm not talking a leaning, no, the feline goes boneless limp collapse. On my foot, across my neck, onto my arm. The first few times, I was afraid he had a neurological issue. Nope, just his "HAI! I LUV U PETS ME" entreaty. And really, he isn't that bright. He totally thinks in a cat's version of LOL. But, you know, sweet?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Fuck cancer some more.

The wife of my closest cousin discovered she had breast cancer not long after the birth of her 2nd child, four and a half years ago. The cancer was aggressive, and she was fighting it aggressively, with considerable success -- but not enough.

Tonight I got That Call.

She is back in the hospital for the final time. Her liver has shut down, other systems are soon to follow, and she is being kept comatose with IV morphine. She has perhaps two days left. Smooth passing, LWP.

Early detection gave her four more years than she would have had otherwise, pretty good years with a pretty great family.

So, folks, don't neglect those exams.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My kitteh just finished her "meowing at me full blast" extended session and is currently washing herself while curled up on my seat on the sofa which I was thinking about reclaiming as soon as I finish here. I think she started out wanting some of the milk from my cereal (Special K--dinner of champions!) and then decided to bitch me out instead.

I'm still feeling a tad guilty about missing the party tonight because I also bailed on her Xmas party last year, partly because my knee had gotten twinged that day, but mostly because we were in the middle of a rather nasty ice storm and I didn't want to drive an hour into the city.

I did promise I'd go to her Inauguration Day breakfast and have already scheduled the day off of work to go, so that will be fun!! We'll be cheering on our new president with mimosas.
