I'm sorry you won't have him closer, Sarameg, even though it sounds like a good opportunity.

bonny - are the moms seeking a therapist in their area? They need to find someone who is knowledgable about attachment disorders. I am forgetting how old you said he was, but here are some we have found useful for some of the issues:
- When I feel Angry (part of a whole series on When I feel....)
- Taking the GRRR out of Anger
There is a book in the "L'il Bill" series by Bill Cosby that deals with verbal bullies and teaches the skill of saying "So?"
- Happy Adoption Day
- Adopting the Hurt Child
- Raising the Hurt Child
- Attachment in Adoption
THen there are many many books on raising boys without a man in the house, best they look some over and find one they like, or start at a library before buying.
Oh my god, y'all. It looks like a military jet went down somewhere in San Diego - near Miramar, I think.
Meep. [link] Scary.
It went down around noon, brenda. Two houses, three confirmed dead and one missing and likely dead. The pilot was okay.
It was less than three blocks from my uncle and aunt's house. Where I will be for Christmas Eve again. They are okay. My aunt and younger cousin were home because it was his birthday.
Tragic thing.
Yeah, that sounded SO scary, brenda...I can't even imagine. I mean, even if you weren't home, coming home and there's a plane in your house and it's just destroyed?!?
K told me about the plane. YIKES.
In other news, I got Noah his big xmas gift: [link] I was going to get him a play kitchen, but this is better, I think.
tommyrot, the headache/cough/fever combination sounds like the flu. I'd definitely plan to stay home, especially if you're still running a fever.
And have as much water/tea/soup as you can stand. Fluids are good.
Kat, that rocket is made of awesome! I wish you guys were closer so I could send you some of our Little Tikes playthings--we have the activity garden, table & chairs and a kitchen that are nearing the end of our use. They will be passed on to someone. I got it all off of Craigslist.
I think it was Cindy who noted that the Little Tikes stuff will survive the apocalypse. Keith Richards and the cockroaches will be driving the coupes and living in the Cozy Cottages.
Noah, the little rocket man.
Is anyone familiar with the book The Mysterious Benedict Society? I found one review that gave the age range as 9-12. I think it will be great for my nephew who is almost 9, but I'm wondering if it would also hold the interest of another kid who just turned 12. I just read the book (and enjoyed it) but I'm pretty sure this kid is smarter than I am.
