Oh my god. What can it be? We're all doomed! Who's flying this thing!? Oh right, that would be me. Back to work.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Noah decided to try on my glasses: [link]

Whuh-oh! I'm sorry I let him play with my sunglasses (but he was very respectful!) but OMG SO ADORABLE.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OK, now he's talking about various New Guinea tribes:

Barua men pursued institutionalized bisexuality by living with the young boys in a large communal homosexual house, while each man had a separate small heterosexual house for his wife and daughters and infant sons. Tudawhes instead had two-story houses in which women, infants, unmarried girls, and pigs lived in a lower story, while men and unmarried boys lived in the upper story accessed by a separate ladder from the ground.

People is weird.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Buzzah? Which one?

I quote from my alumni e-mail: "Vanderbilt will play Boston College in the 2008 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl." Gaylord Hotels are the Opryland people. My ignorance of football is so profound that I had no idea there was a Music City Bowl, even though googling tells me it's been around 10 years.

From McSweeney's

FIFTY YEARS
OF POPULAR SONGS
CONDENSED INTO

The Beatles, "I Want to Hold Your Hand"

I want to do it with you.

----

James Blunt, "You're Beautiful"

I want to do it with you.

----

Carly Simon, "You're So Vain"

We used to do it, but then you did it with someone else, and now I'm not going to do it with you, although I wish we were still doing it.

----

Kate Bush, "Wuthering Heights"

I'm an 18th-century fictional character and I want to do it with another 18th-century fictional character.

----

Bob Dylan, "Blowin' in the Wind"

The Man is currently doing it to you.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Tommy, that's next on my reading list. I want to read Diamond's Why Sex is Fun.

I was irritated by Guns, Germs and Steel and haven't picked up any of Diamond's stuff since.

Noah in glasses is adorable, and they do highlight how much he looks like his mom.

Yeah, that one looks interesting too.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Hi all. I haven't been around for several days as I've either been a) grading, b) cleaning, or c) trying to get ready for Xmas. Tree is up but not quite trimmed. Egad but DH's family add about 12 extra steps to the tree trimming. If it were up to me, it'd be done already, but I do recognize that it'll be prettier their way.

But at least we're down to the last week of the semester. Yay!

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Do they wrap the lights around the trunk? I love a tree with the lights all glittery all the way through (100 lights per foot of tree!) but my forearms arms get all scratched up taking the dang things off again in january.
