“Not dead yet!”

OMG, I have my house back. Part of my Christmas present to Lewis is having stuff done around the house that we've intended to do since we moved in but never got around to. One of those things was moving a thermostat upstairs from the hallway, which was a stupid place for it, to the actual bonus room.

Sounds like a simple thing, but it wasn't. It required much work. And men were here all day, fixing it, bless them, but the dogs felt the need to make noise every time the guys went up and down the stairs.

I've gotten very little done today and I have a headache. Perhaps I should also request pizza.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

What are people doing this weekend?

Putting up the sparkly tree, trying to write the next GCS column, going dancing, and hanging out with a friend I don't get to see very often.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Someone who knows me well could give me Fat and Salt together as a gift!

Or they could cut to the chase and give you Charcuterie instead!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Taking a big-ass test tomorrow morning, then going to see Australia with the husband. Sunday, hanging out at home, followed by much dithering about hair and make-up, then going to the Women in Film Gala. It's a black tie event and I am going as my friend Nancy's date. She's gonna get an award!

Our wings are not tired

I'm flying back to Los Angeles tonight. Sleeping in tomorrow. Then spending time on Saturday and Sunday working on wiring and setup in the new studio/office. I hope to make a little time to play some video games in there somewhere.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Or they could cut to the chase and give you Charcuterie instead!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Sat: JZ is working at the Art Deco Fair all weekend. Emmett and I will take Matilda to Circus School. She'll nap. We'll flop. Then we'll go get a Christmas tree.

Sun: Drag Emmett and Matilda to the East Bay so I can catch the makeup date for Little League tryouts and Emmett can hang with this friends. Probably make an afternoon outing with Matilda involving donuts or cookies or something.

Compassionately intolerant

I've got dinner with friends this evening. I'm picking up and sitting for our shih tzu friends for the next four days. They are the cutest, but a lot of work.

Then, finishing packaging a workshop program around which I have analysis paralysis.

Lots of laundry and dishes.

Last night, I went to an interesting lecture at the National Geographic about the archeological digs at Stonehenge. There is so much about that region I did not know. The talk was nice, the archeologist was one huge rumble and winningly witty but, oh lord, his voice as so calm and friendly that it served as a mass soporific. I could not stop yawning.

Still. Educational.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Aw, crap. Just remembered why I was going to bring something in -- to take it to my hairdresser as a Christmas present. Curses. Also, I like getting my hair done, but this is not the day I want to sit in a chair for an hour amusing myself. Want to SLEEP! Also, get home and see what FedEx brought!
