You never know if a girl's gonna say 'yes', or if she's gonna laugh in your face and pull out your still-beating heart and crush it into the ground with her heel.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

I'm guessing there is only so much Terkel stuff that was recorded for public radio that they had immediate access to, and that was it.

Ah! I hadn't even thought of that. Good point.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"The Gas We Pass: the story of farts".

Is that as good as "Everybody Poops"?

Punishingly Intricate

I heard most of the TAL. Really beautiful stuff. My grandfather in TX was in school during the Depression and he road the rails during summer school breaks looking for work. Hobo! He evidently wrote about it all in a letter to my brother that must be in my parents' house somewhere. I need to get my dad to find it.

I just arranged petsitting so I can go to the midwest for Christmas. Now I just need to tell my Mom I'm not going to be home for it. I think she'll be okay as she's a big fan of my boyfriend but it will be weird. First time I won't be home for xmas since I lived in SF in the early 90s.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think I've decided to board my cat over Christmas -- I'm going to be home longer than I usually go, and maybe living at the vet's for a while, they'll figure out why he's so crazy!

God is angry that we're not sufficiently hard-line when it comes to Israel, so he sent hurricane Rita.

I love the farmer who is absolutely sure that tornadoes did not destroy his house, because he prayed and "Jesus heard me."

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

msbelle, I'm gonna second Beth's rec (if you were looking for one) of the Molly Bang book. It doesn't really have major coping techniques but it's a good book for kids who are dealing with anger. And for parents to talk about it. And I love Molly Bang in general who spoke to one of my classes about her work and art work and she's amazing so I try to always pimp her work.

My fave is the book, Delphine which is fantabulous.

Sophie might be a little young, but it's still a good one for E.
