Err, no. Ron Howard is the director, which is my one big ? on whether I'm going to see it.

Oops! I was reading something about the movie and saw a The Queen reference in it, which must have been for the actor Michael Sheen, not the director of F/N.

So, Ron Howard directed, hmm? That explains Frost's reference to Howard during his TDS interview last week.

Art Crawl!!!

Could a silver sable have a black saddle?

ION, I just had a frustrating conversation with Amazon customer service: I checked my outstanding orders and to my horror discovered that something that I was not expecting 'til after payday was "shipping soon." I raced to my end of payperiod skinny checkinig account to see if I could cover the order and no - probably not. So I did that express phone thing to see if I could figure out when/if the ax would fall. An ax including massive overdraft fees and they told me that not only was it "shipping soon" - in fact, it had actually shipped last week.

Given that I typically receive things in a week and that Amazon was not on my checking account records I was sure that this was not so.

But he insisted so I glumly hung up the phone and went and emailed customer service. While I was doing so I received an email from Amazon saying that the package had been shipped.

And then, while I was venting (on email) to a friend about the whole thing - I got another email saying, no, sorry - that item will not ship until after December 4th - because it is not yet released.

WTF? Is it that Christmas rush thing already that is confusing them?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So, Ron Howard directed, hmm?

The movies of his that I really like (Night Shift, Splash) don't exactly scream Frost/Nixon to me, but we'll see.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It looks like the Easter Bunny is just waiting for the photographer to put the camera down so he can eat the child.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Thanks for the Virgin recs. It's for a Christmas gift, so the easiest to use with as few bells and whistles as possible is best. I've looked at their products and like them a lot.

Thanks!!

t checks one more gift off list

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Could a silver sable have a black saddle?

Yep, any of the sables can -- the silver/tan/red/etc just describes the base color that's ticked with black.

Heh--"Obama team sweeps news media into Cubs-Sox rivalry"

Reporters were assigned seats in one of two sections, one to Obama's left, designated the "Cubs" section, and the other to his right, designated "White Sox." Team assignments appeared to be arbitrary...

Here's the take from Steve Thomma, a reporter for the McClatchy Newspapers chain who filed a report as a member of the press pool following Obama on Monday.

"In a crime against nature, your pooler—-a genuine White Sox fan, a man who attended his first twi-night doubleheader at the Old Comiskey in 1963, who sat behind third base for the 50th anniversary All-Star Game there in '83, who knew Bill Veeck and the wonders of Disco Demolition night, who saw the great Ozzie [Guillen] play before he managed—-has been assigned a seat in the Cubs section."
