Heh--"Obama team sweeps news media into Cubs-Sox rivalry"

Reporters were assigned seats in one of two sections, one to Obama's left, designated the "Cubs" section, and the other to his right, designated "White Sox." Team assignments appeared to be arbitrary...

Here's the take from Steve Thomma, a reporter for the McClatchy Newspapers chain who filed a report as a member of the press pool following Obama on Monday.

"In a crime against nature, your pooler—-a genuine White Sox fan, a man who attended his first twi-night doubleheader at the Old Comiskey in 1963, who sat behind third base for the 50th anniversary All-Star Game there in '83, who knew Bill Veeck and the wonders of Disco Demolition night, who saw the great Ozzie [Guillen] play before he managed—-has been assigned a seat in the Cubs section."

Always Anti-fascist!

M: Selleck C: Sizemore F: Welling The Peters are, uh, more difficult. like all of them, do not want to chuck. Ok, if I had to, M: Gallagher, not least because he got to kiss Kyle Secor on Homicide, which I would give up a lot to do. F:O'Toole....I guess I still heart "My Favorite Year" that much. Which, regrettably leads me to C Casey(sob).Probably with a lot of "Please forgive me," phonecalls.

information libertarian

My (male) coworker has his baby in the office today - like, all day. The baby is about 14 months old. He seems very happy, but he's talkative and running around and I just can't imagine bringing my child that age to work for any length of time, expecting to actually work. I mean, I took Casper to work with me once for an hour when she was 4 (I had the afternoon off but an emergency meeting was called) and it was not a good idea. Take a vacation day, dude!

“Not dead yet!”

Yay me, I have a new task chair- [link] (The pneumatic lift on the Aeron had gotten a little dodgy of late and I noticed my wrist was really starting to hurt.)

Achieved at ridiculous price because the office furnishings store was no longer a dealer for them.

It's very nifty, but now comes all the adjusting and finding just the right positions and relearning the right positions, since I have no idea how long the Aeron's been acting up.

Jack's happy however. The Aeron is sitting off to the side and since he's always been rather fond of it and given me the Kitty Stinkeye whenever I evicted him, I'm sure he believes that I finally capitulated and put it there for his benefit.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

My old cat Senor Sock and I would often fight over my computer chair. The second I brought the thing into my apartment, he jumped on it and claimed it as his own. Often times I'd get up from my desk and he'd run over and jump on the chair. So sometimes I'd get up, look at him and tell him, "I'm coming back." That actually worked some of the time....

Ann, that's a ferret.

There's always the "pick cat up from where you want to sit, sit down, and place cat on your lap" method. Works with Max.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I keep saying I need sidecars on my chair for the cats.

Should I eat at Burger King? If so, what?

I only ask because they have free WiFi. Otherwise I'd go to McDonalds. And I only go there once a week at most. Because I can just sense the food is Bad For Me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Whopper Junior meal is my standard.

I just had a Bad News meeting, and it went OK, so that's good. My boss is clearly ready for her week off, which starts any minute now.
