Poor noodle must be really panicked to act that way. It might not be an evil idea to give him a mild tranquilizer before going, in order that he have a calm visit or two to let the lizard brain realize he isn't going to be hurt...?
Hil, I wonder if there isn't some kind of transitive verbage going on with adopted and adoptive, like 'adopted daughter' means the parents voluntarily adopted her, whereas 'adoptive parents' means you were adopted UPON, not of your own volition. Therefore, if the Emanual boys were well into their teens, yet still minors, they didn't have a say in whether their parents adopted, hence "adoptive" rather than "adopted"?
Ouch. That sounds like the kind of fun that's not.
Also ouch - my manager just called to tell me that a guy we interviewed a few months back, who was a manager with our firm in Shanghai for several years, just rang up her purchases at Walgreen's. *Awkward*.

Wouldn't it be the opposite with the parents, since it's the 'adoptives' who are the actors here, not the 'adopted'?
ETA: Wait, no, I think I'm reading you wrong. Carry on.
Hmm. I think I can make an argument for saying she's their adopted sister, and they're her adoptive brothers. I think.
Also, several of these articles are making a point of saying how Shoshana isn't as successful as her brothers. Of course she isn't! They've got fifteen years or so on her -- she's just a few years out of college.
Aw, poor mac. And poor msbelle.
I had to hold him and three of us had one arm to give him a half flu shot and ppd test. Unbelievable.
I was like that with needles when I was his age - totally phobic. I have memories of leaping off the table and running out of the room screaming. Pretty sure I had to be strapped down at least once.
My mom eventually talked me into being able to close my eyes and think of something I liked REALLY REALLY HARD so I wouldn't be anticipating the sting. Which is why every time I get blood drawn to this day, I can smell strawberry ice cream. It's a bizarrely strong sense memory.
We had practiced the closing his eyes, even while hugging me and turning his head away, but as soon as the Dr was in the room (the second time) he freaked again and then he was so loud that both nurses came in which made it worse. I was unsympathetic by then, which I know made him feel worse, but that is how it went. We get to do it again in 3-4 weeks.
MC Hamnmer pants are coming back. How do we stop the insanity?
Whoa, did the board just go back a few days?
When I was a kid we our doctor made house calls--one of the last to do so. My brother hated shots and when he was about four once ran out of the house naked and ran down the block screaming "Help, my mother is trying to kill me!" It took three people to get him back inside.
