Wrod, Jesse, on the Summers front. I mean I get that he can be all knowledgable about money and still be a dick, but SIGH.
I have one student who claimed to be 'heartbroken' over the presidential election. She's so naively partisan that I actually felt some sympathy for her. After all, I was heartbroken in 2000 and 2004.

There's GOT to be someone who is knowledgable about money AND thinks women can be good scientists, you know?
You slackass assslacker! Get out of your apartment and come up here.
Get out of your apartment and come down here! I make the trip a hell of a lot more than you do.
Why can't my cats all get along???
Weekend: JZ took Matilda to meet megan walker and go to the anti Prop 8. rally.
Not so much. Apologize to JZ for me. My phone died and I didn't realize it until I had been waiting some time. I waited 1/2 an hour by work, and then went ahead to the rally, where I hunted around for another half hour or so. No luck.
Tell that to my two new puncture wounds. First time Devi's drawn blood from me over Loki. My own fault, but damn, this is slow progress and a bit of regress. I honestly think only him getting bigger+ house will resolve this drama.
I was at the Clinton inauguration in 2006
Oh yeah, of course by 1996, I meant 1997
Jesse has become unstuck in time...
I was at the '93 inauguration and actually got halfway decent standing room because my sister's elementary school choir was singing there. (Which REALLY irritated me at the time because it was MY elementary school choir too, only I wasn't in elementary school any more so I COULDN'T GO BACKSTAGE. And it all seemed terribly unfair.)
msbelle, I think tomorrow I shall visit this: [link]
Call if you want company and another set of eyes. I'll just be hanging around home tomorrow.
I have something for Matilda!
I know what it is !!! And want pictures when she gets it!
'93 inauguration
I hopped up on a flatbed truck at the very, very beginning of the parade route. Got to see all the groups getting their stuff together and watch them bursting with energy. It was freezing, but it was great.
One poor Midwestern woman had her illusions shattered when she asked me what the men on top of the National Museum of Art were going waving sticks around.
"Um. Ma'am. Those are sniper rifles."
Suddenly the parade was a little less sunny for her. Sigh.
