Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Good luck with the sleep study, Erin. I had one a few weeks ago, and it was extremely helpful for my doctors. I hope so for you as well.
CBD and I just had a good talk. Thank goodness for that. Now we're watching B5. I'd rather be watching 27 Dresses, but, well, a girl can't have everything.

All the food talk has made me hungry and wanting to bake!
I'm a bit pouty right now. I found a jacket for a character for the show I'm directing. It was perfect but the wrong color. No problem! I figured I could just dye it red from "natural". I've dyed plenty of things without ever having a problem. The jacket looked to be in great shape, too.
I mixed up a beautiful shade of red, put the jacket in and waited and stirred. When I took it out to rinse, the stupid thing fell apart at the seams. No reason why it should have acted this way. No way to save it. Of course the color turned out perfect, though.
It took 4 second hand/thrift/rummage shops to find the dumb thing. (The offerings in this area aren't that great) Now I have to start looking for something, again. I tried 2 places today without any luck.
I hate this place.
I finally got my new DVD player. I can watch movies without having to pause and rewind to control skipping every five minutes! Setting it up dislodged my cable organization, though, so now I've got a tangle of cables showing. I need to go buy some more of those sticky foam squares to reattach things where they should be. (I get a bit obsessive about having my electronic stuff set up so that as few cables as possible are showing.)
When I was on vacation in Maine with my family last summer, the toaster in the condo where we stayed had a "Pop Tarts" setting. Like, on the knob for adjusting the time and temperature, there was a little Pop Tarts logo.
I'm watching "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." I am a total sap for this show. I can easily step back and critique it, but still, total sap. (Big critique being: it's great that they can build accessible houses, but it's also kind of ridiculous that people need to get on a TV show, which picks only about 20 families a year, just to get a house where they can go to more than one or two rooms.)
Hil R, my new-to-me toaster has that "feature" too. I haven't used it yet. I usually eat my Pop Tarts as a snack in the car or at work. Speaking of, if you leave a packet of Pop Tarts in your car in the summer in TX, you could find them perfectly warmed for your ride home. Gotta love solar cooking.
Thou the cookies were thin, they were very well received. Folks digging in the bag for a second helping. I think tomorrow I'll make brownies. Oh ya, I came home to a yummy smelling apartment. Finally a time where you don't have to play "hunt down that smell".
I haven't had Pop Tarts in forever. Just got tired of having to read the ingredients to figure out which flavors are vegetarian and which aren't. (I think that, last time I checked, most of the ones with frosting are not vegetarian, and most of the ones without frosting are vegetarian, but that wasn't always the case.) Also a bit annoyed that I didn't try Twinkies during the few months that they were vegetarian, just because I'm curious what they taste like. (They switched from lard to vegetable shortening for a little while so that they could advertise no saturated fat, but then they switched back so that they could advertise no trans fat.)
These Extreme Makeover designers don't seem to really get kids. While the new house does have a gorgeous open plan so that everything's right there without having to navigate narrow hallways, there are way too many pointy things right around face level of a three-year-old who doesn't look always totally steady with his walker. Would a coffee table with rounded corners have been that difficult? Also, the kids have dollhouse- and animal-themed rooms that they love when they're seven and three, but will probably be sick of in a few years.
Oatmeal scotchies are delicious.
Black Forest cookies I only make at this time of year. They're basically a very chunky oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips, chopped dried cherries, pecans, and coconut and with a kirsch glaze drizzled over them while they're still warm.
These sound even BETTER. YUM.
I may be hungry.
I was a little frightened to see the number of posts waiting here when I logged in...and amused and heartened to see the GC saga from last night. GC, you rock, and I want to hug you and DW, and you did all teh right things, and I love all teh buffistas who were around to tell you so. Wish I'd been one of them.
The evil manager of the BBQ place gave me free hush puppies. I cannot stop nomming them... nom nom nom
You taunting taunter, Laga.
I wish I could stuff them through the tubes to you. I said,
I will be nice and take these home to D.
Now there's only four left... make that three.
