I'm curious as to what happens if a citizen is disabled or otherwise physically unable to serve in the army? Are they required to do some other type of service?
No, but some of them can volunteer to serve anyhow, and do it.
And happy birthday to your nephew!
Comic relief for teachers.
Nice!
On a related note, the writing homework I set my kids over the holiday was to write a story explaining why they couldn't do their homework. Could be anything - the dog ate it, they were kidnapped by Darth Vader just before they could start writing, their fingers turned into spaghetti, they were distracted by the sight of a small girl chasing a rabbit down a rabbit hole, whatever.
Nice assignment Fay. My son would LOVE such a challenge. He has a scary imagination when it comes to these types of things.
Recently they had to rewrite a Christmas carol or story into something completely different. CJ and his partner took The Night Before Christmas and rewrote it into something more Nightmare before Christmas-ish with zombies and such.

Oo we had that at the holiday party. One of the cast members did one inserting all the folk from the theater. It focused on the Ghost of Frank Lloyd Wright haunting us because of the elevator in his building (he apparently hated elevators). It was cute.
omg I killed the thread! It's not Friday end of day. What happened?!?
:: drops to floor, elevates threads head so airway is clear, performs CPR, bangs on chest with fervor!! ::
Don't die on me bitch!!!!!
OK, with all that drama, I'm going home. Seems everyone left the office early, so why not me too.
I'm here, just not very posty today.
I'm here, listening to that radio show with the guy from Colbert Report.
I was out sledding!! The streets are mostly closed (though a few jackasses were going up streets that were ACTUALLY closed--including signs and everything).
I even saw a guy on a UNICYCLE. People are crazy.
I got a wonderful gift from paramount. A big-ass bag (so I can take the messenger bag off my wish list,) Tropic Thunder on DVD, a Benjamin Button watch and a Defiance T-shirt. I think the bag is for picknicks as it has two pockets on the sides that are wine-bottle sized and an interior space that appears to be insulated but for now it's my new work bag. Yay. Also one of the vendors who I thought was only giving us a card this year sent us toffee.
At the moment I am treating my cold with chicken-tortilla soup and hot peppers.
