Okay, I should make my 150' commute home from the office and think about bed. I'm slowly making progress in getting things set up here, but it is slow going sometimes.

Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
ND - you too. Step away from the office in the general direction of the bed. The sun will be up there in the sky tomorrow as well, I promise.
The joy of being a theatre person, the middle of the night is when I tend to really get my second wind and get a lot done.
Didn't need to be said twice.
Humm. Then, if you don't feel like you're getting much done - let me correct myself by stating that the moon, also, will shine tomorrow.
So I don't know if to send you inspiration~ma or sleepy~ma.
I tend to shy away from discussions on privilege--ever since a very tense class in my tutoring seminar on the issue. I've done a bit of writing on it, though...mostly from the perspective of experiencing an easier time getting public assistance because I'm white and well-spoken. It bothers me tremendously and makes me want to advocate for those who don't have those qualities (I'm not sure what else to call them; that may not be the best word).
Relatedly, the Boston hospital that treats the highest number of low-income residents is having to make major cuts, including 30% of their translators. This makes me so very, very sad.
Unrelatedly, I just really fucked up something for school. And the thing is, it's entirely my fault. I worded something VERY badly. Ugh.
It's what made me think that her list of privileges were not so much "white" as "dominant culture."
Totally true. Also, I like the one about "If I want to, I can find a publisher for this." Nuh? That's a particular brand of privilege right there! Anyway, this whole conversation was yesterday and I don't want to rehash it. So I will... stop typing about it already!
Okay, two more days until vacation. Deep breaths and don't blow up at the students! vw, I can't access lj at school, so I'm afraid it'll have to wait until I get home.
Hey, can anyone recommend a good resource (or explanation) to explain why we as a country get involved in humanitarian missions, as opposed to only responding when our national security is directly threatened?
Gosh, having conservative students is fun. (Actually, it is fun. It's just also frustrating.)
How do I already need a nap?
Didn't need to be said twice.
Well, it was a second wind.
